ABSTRACT
El estrés y síndrome de burnout son problemas que repercuten en la salud de los profesionales, y por ello en la calidad asistencial, deteriorando la relación médico-paciente y suponiendo un alto costo social y económico. Con el objetivo de identificar condiciones asociadas al estrés y al síndrome de burnout en estomatólogos que cumplen misión internacionalista en la Región 1, Caracas, Venezuela, en el año 2009, se realizó un estudio descriptivo analítico de corte transversal, utilizando instrumentos como: entrevista, cuestionario y Escala Sintomática de Estrés e Inventario de Burnout de Maslach. Los resultados mostraron niveles significativos de estrés con alta prevalencia de la enfermedad. Con síndrome de burnout se presentaron 2 casos, con baja prevalencia en este síndrome. El estrés afectó más a profesionales entre 1 y 2 años en la misión y los afectados por burnout sobrepasaron los dos años. Los casos afectados manifestaron irritabilidad, acidez, dolor de cabeza, insomnio, ansiedad, fatiga y dolor abdominal. La sobrecarga de trabajo por las multitareas, l as relaciones interpersonales inadecuadas y el ruido, fueron los factores que más intervinieron en la generación de estrés(AU)
The stress and the burnout syndrome are problems that rebound in the health of the professionals and for it in the assistance quality, deteriorating the doctor-patient relationship and supposing a high social and economic cost. With the objective of identify conditions associated to stress and Syndrome of Burnout in stomatologists that fulfill internationalist mission in Region 1, Caracas, Venezuela, in 2009, it was carried out a descriptive analytic study of cross section, using instruments like: interviews, questionnaire and the Symptomatic Scale of Stress and Inventory of Burnout of Maslach. The results showed significant levels of stress with a high prevalence of the illness. There were presented two cases with Syndrome of Burnout, with low prevalence of this syndrome. The stress affected more professionals between one and two years in the mission and those affected by Burnout surpassed the two years. The affected cases manifested irritability, acidity, headache, insomnia, anxiety, tiredness and abdominal pain. The overload work for multitasks, the inadequate interpersonal relationships and the noise, were the factors that took part in the generation of the stress(AU)
