ABSTRACT

On the basis of individual occupational fluoride loads (IOFN) it was established that under current levels of air pollution of the working area by fluorine compounds, occupational fluorosis can occur in mostly sensitive workers with 66 or more years of accumulated period of work, while the most vulnerable are workers with of 9.4 or more years of accumulated period of work. The results obtained in comparison of clinical data with individual fluoride load, testify that in the high-risk group for the development of occupational fluoride intoxication include workers with an average accumulated period of work of 10.5 years or more and Individual Occupational Fluoride Load (IOFL) as 67,7 or more grams. In the high-risk group there are included workers with an average accumulated period ofwork of 13.7 years and IOFL as 89.8 grams or more. With the use of ultrasound densitometry there was revealed a clear cut dynamics of the increase of the speed of ultrasonic wave with the rise in the accumulated period of work at the plant, which indicates to a gradual increase in bone tissue density.

ABSTRACT

There was performed a comparative analysis of the parameters of humoral immunity factors and topical immunity of 3000 workers of metallurgical enterprises exposed to effects of industrial mixts of different composition. Under exposure to aerosols with weak fibrogenic action there is observed simultaneous decrease of the number T-cytotoxic lymphocytes, and the increase of the number of T-helper cells, as under the influence of aerosols of complex composition (contains compounds with fibrogenc action--Silicon and irritants--nitrogen dioxide, sulfur there are formed signs of hyperergic immune response with the activation of humoral compartment, T-helper cells, and the inhibition of cytotoxic lymphocytes. Aerosols with fibrogenic action have the most pronounced suppressive effect on topical immunity

ABSTRACT

There was performed the assessment of the degree of the impact of the chemical occupational factors on the development of allergic diseases in healthcare practitioners of the Sverdlovsk Region. According to results of the certification of 145 workplaces in medical institutions of the Sverdlovsk Region's it was revealed that the health care professionals mostly contact with the chemical substances which were the strong allergens with potent nfavorable impact on the health. In the formation of allergic diseases in healthcare practitioners the leading role is belonged to antibiotics, vitamins and other medicines, as well as formaldehyde; there is less detected sensitization to cotton dust and synthetic detergents.

ABSTRACT

Annual levels of morbidity and mortality due to respiratory diseases and certain infectious and parasitic diseases in Russian Federation exceed the corresponding values in some European countries. Thus, wide implementation of national program for vaccine-preventable infections not only among children, but also in adults. Implementation of National immunization calendar for routine and epidemic indications, wider vaccination for adult population especially in occupational teams will be an important step to lower social and economic loss caused by those infectious diseases.

ABSTRACT

The research purpose is an estimation of influence of the bauxite dust on the state of the bronchopulmonary system of workers. It has been indicated that exposure of the poor fibrogenic dust while the process of the bauxite ore extraction, results in development of pnevmokoniosis characterized by substantial ventilatory and haemodynamic disorders limiting the workability of patients.

ABSTRACT

Federal budgetary establishment of a science "the Ekaterinburg medical centre of science of preventive maintenance and health protection of workers industrial plants". Findings are that adaptation level and life quality parameters progressively decrease with longer length of service. The most unfavorable parameters are seen in cryolite production workers with length of service over 20 years and in age group of 45-55 years. Conclusion is that treatment and prevention are necessary.

ABSTRACT

In this study the data of multiyear investigations of occupational and environmental hazards at different enterprises of the Russian aluminum industry are presented. Basing on these data, we have been elaborated the algorithm and methodological approaches on management of the occupational and ecology-related risks using hygienic safety criteria, risk evaluation technique, epidemiological and economic analysis.

ABSTRACT

Multi-year follow-up of 358 workers of aluminum pot rooms, including 165 individuals suffering from fluorosis, has shown significant changes in the clinical picture of the chronic occupational fluorine intoxication, developed under modern conditions of production, at lower concentrations of fluorine compounds in the air of working area. In this connection, the pathology of the musculoskeletal system plays the dominating role in this clinical picture and has the large variability of combinations of the individual sections destructions of the bone tissue. The main criterion to establish the phase of the disease is still the number and severity of the signs of this destruction. The visceral pathology in contemporary production circumstances is registered with less frequency and loses a number of the previously described clinical manifestations, however, is still of some importance to identify the early signs of the disease and to prevent the dental fluorosis on time.

ABSTRACT

The article covers results of life quality studies in patients with occupational respiratory diseases and in workers at risk of diseases due to dust. Findings are that occuupational respiratory diseases negatively influence physical and psycho-social status of the patients. The influence degree is connected to smoking intensity, the disease duration and bronchial obstruction grade. Life quality study is an important indicator of the symptoms control, additional parameter to clinical and functional state monitoring.

ABSTRACT

Sverdlovsk regional government specified and approved a concept of diversified system "Occupational medicine" to preserve and improve health of workers in Sverdlovsk region. Implementation of the concept enables to put new organizational approaches into practice for improved management of available medical care for all workers, for increased quality of this care, for better clinical work and better health of economically active population in Sverdlovsk region.

ABSTRACT

The multidisciplinary harmonized "Occupational Medicine" system established in the Sverdlovsk Region makes it possible, firstly, to analyze and assess occupational risks at both the regional and municipal levels; secondly, at each of the above level, to take specific managerial decisions including the packages of organizational, informational, preventive, and other measures to minimize risks on the cost-benefit basis.

ABSTRACT

The article covers data on high efficiency of differentiated program for rehabilitation of workers at high risk for dust diseases. Undertaken therapeutic course enabled to stop pneumosclerosis, better ventilation and hemodynamics, immune state, increase tolerance of physical exertion. Additional diadynamic or sinusoidal modulated currents and electrophoresis resulted in increased therapeutic efficiency. Inhalation M- cholinergic antagonists increased efficiency of medical rehabilitation and could be recommended as a part of rehabilitation programs for workers at high risk of occupational respiratory diseases.

ABSTRACT

Based on analysis of diurnal blood pressure monitoring in patients with occupational respiratory diseases, the authors concluded that progressive disorders of bronchial patency are associated with higher mean systolic and diastolic pressure during day and night. There is definite relationship between more severe bronchial obstruction in the examinees and pathologic types of diurnal variations in blood pressure.
