ABSTRACT

Despite the successes in anti-goitre actions, the problem of thyroid pathology still remains to be of high complexity and concern. Research conducted in the endemic goitre focus in the Pre-Carpathians indicated the presence of pronounced pathomorphosis of thyroid abnormalities. The incidence of autoimmune and malignant conditions is growing, so is that of Hürthle cell metamorphosis in the thyroid epithelium. New variant forms of already known diseases have appeared. The findings would help perform an adequate correction of diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive measures. A profound research into the thyroid gland abnormalities is essential.

ABSTRACT

From analysis of literature data and the results of their personal studies embracing 3,139 operations for diseases of the thyroid gland the authors conclude that certain forms of goiter (nodular and recurrent in particular) play regularly the role of background processes in the development of cancer of the gland. This provides the ground for setting apart such patients into a risk group. Marked dysplasia is the main form of precancerous changes.

ABSTRACT

Subcutaneous administration of noriamine S-2, a mixture of crystalline amino acids, and improved casein hydrolysate to rats on protein-free diet for 8 days completely made for protein insufficiency and did not materially affect the morphological appearance of liver tissue. in toxic hepatitis, administration of the above preparations improved liver function. However, the morphofunctional parameters did not completely return to normal.

ABSTRACT

In breast and stomach cancer the cell reactions in regional lymph nodes were studied by histochemical assaying of the T-dependent zone (acid phosphatase activity) and B-dependent zone (the activity of alkaline phosphatase, 5-nucleotidase, ATPs) and also by determining sinus histiocytosis. The metastases involved lymph nodes were characterized by a regular marked fall in the acid phosphatase activity i. e. by the decreased T-zone, which is responsible for cell immune response.

ABSTRACT

Inclusion into the food of rats of living E. coli strains produced an inflammatory-destructive process in the mucose of the cecum. When a strain isolated from the patient suffering from carcinoma of the stomach was fed the changes appeared in 2 to 3 months after the beginning of the experiment and were accompanied by atrophy of the mucosa; after colibacterin administration the inflammatory process occurred later, it was less pronounced and accompanied by the repair reaction.
