ABSTRACT

One of the variables capable of significantly affecting personality behaviour under normal conditions and in pathology is anxiety. The theses submitted here are supported by arguments derived from the results of experiments carried out at the Institute of Experimental Psychology, Slovak Academy of Sciences, Bratislava. Anxiety significantly affects the activity of cognitive processes. Cognitive processes are often affected by anxiety indirectly through enhanced uncertainty, limitation of choice of responses, or inadequate reactions. The personality of an anxious S is characterized by such patterns of behaviour that may contribute, in the form of risk factors, to the onset of cardiac disorders.
