ABSTRACT

To investigate the genetical precursors of cataract development the next groups were included: patients suffering from cataract (96) and 96 healthy persons. The determination of γ-crystallin polymorphism (G(-47)-->A) (rs2289917) was provided using PCR method and further analyses of restriction fragment length polymorphism. These allelic variants have the significant different: G/G--35.37%, G/A--53.66%, A/A--10.98%, and G/G--55.06%, G/A--35.96%, A/A--8.99% comparing with the control group (P = 0.03, by χ2-test). While investigating the level of expression of γ-crystallin gene (CRYGB) in platelets, showed that the quantity of mRNA in homozygotes G/G in 3.9 times (P < 0.05) higher than in carriers of A allele (genotype G/A and A/A). This paper shows the significant difference in distribution of CRYGB promoter (G(-47)-->A) genotypes in patients with cataract compared to the control group. Furthermore, here we provide the data concerning its functional meaning: level of mRNA expression of crystallin is different in carriers of various CRYGB promoter (G(-47)-->A) genotypes.

ABSTRACT

The efficacy of hemostasis achievement during conduction of a retrobulbar vascular-nervous bunch ligation (RVNBL), using titanic clips while evisceroenucleation performance, was studied up. A comparative analysis of clinical and functional results of surgical treatment of 36 patients, suffering terminal dolorous glaucoma and disaster of a sympathetic ophthalmia complication after an eye penetrating wounding occurrence. In 16 patients (the first group) a standard method of a hemostasis achievement was used while doing evisceroenucleation - a deep orbital tamponade for 5 minutes. In 20 patients (the second group) a procedure of RVNBL was conducted, using titanic clips before the bunch transsection doing. There was established, that while doing a RVNPL using titanic clips, a hemorrhage never occurs, a retrobulbar hematoma do not formated, the soft tissues reaction in the early postoperative period is less pronounced, and the patients postoperative rehabilitation period shortens.

ABSTRACT

A method for antiprotease activity measurement based on the use of luminous bacteria luciferase as protein substrate of proteases is suggested. Antiprotease is incubated with protease for 1 to 2 min at 30 degrees C and then it is added to the reaction mixture containing luciferase, NADH: FMN-oxidoreductase and their substrates--myristic aldehyde, FMN and NADH. Biofluorescence is measured in a temperature-controlled cuvette for 1 min. The total time of the measurement is 3 min. The method can be applied both in fine biochemical assays and in medical rapid diagnosis.

ABSTRACT

Mobilization of serotonin in intestine and its accumulation in liver and spleen tissues were observed at the initial periods after partial hepatectomy. Later on, content of serotonin was gradually decreased in liver tissue, however, its dynamics exhibited a phasic pattern--the minimal level of the amine coincided in time with the maximal mitotic activity. A negative correlation was found between the content of endogenous serotonin and mitotic activity. Possible role of endogenous serotonin in proliferating processes is discussed.
