El futuro del estado de Bienestar en Europa / The future of welfare state in Europe

El Estado de Bienestar en el contexto europeo en su versión actual se crea a mediados del siglo XX como un mecanismo corrector del mercado y de la mercantilización de las relaciones salariales, estando vinculado a la idea moderna de ciudadanía. En la actualidad cabe diferenciar entre cuatro regímenes de bienestar: el modelo liberal/residual, el modelo conservador, el modelo de los países del sur de Europa y el modelo socialdemócrata. Las actitudes y valores de la ciudadanía frente al Estado de Bienestar juegan un papel clave, en tanto en cuanto los ciudadanos valoran las políticas sociales como elementos básicos para mantener niveles razonables de seguridad vital. Respecto al futuro del Estado de Bienestar en Europa dependerá, en último término, de decisiones políticas

The Welfare State in the European context in its current version was created in the mid-twentieth century as a corrective mechanism of the market and the commodification of wage relations and is linked to the modern idea of citizenship. At present, it is possible to differentiate between four welfare regimes: the liberal/residual model, the conservative model, the Southern European countries model and the social-democratic model. The attitudes and values of citizenship vis-a-vis the welfare state play a key role, as one of the limitations with which governments try to cut them is that citizens value social policies as key elements for maintain reasonable levels of life safety. With regard to the future of the welfare state in Europe, it will ultimately depend on political decisions

Los desarrollos y aplicaciones en biotecnología humana nos enfrentan a profundos dilemas sociales, éticos y sociales, vinculados a la posibilidad de alterar nuestro desarrollo evolutivo y cultural, renunciando al principio de Humanidad. En este texto, desde una perspectiva sociológica, se reflexiona sobre estas cuestiones presentando como su parado y presente han conformado una determinada matriz operativa que se proyecta hacia el futuro. Ofreceremos las percepciones públicas que en España y en los países europeos. Se tiene sobre sus posibilidades, puesto que todo avance en al materia científico-tecnológica debe tener en consideración la opinión de la ciudadanía. Para finalizar se hacen unas reflexiones finales que, más que cerrar el debate, dejan abiertos interrogantes, pues ante un tema de tanta envergadura el futuro debería ser fruto del diálogo y del consenso

The developments and applications in human biotechnology make us face deep social dilemas, social and ethical, that are associated to the possibility of altering our evolutionary and cultural development, thereby renouncing to principle of Humanity. From a sociological perspective, this text reflects on this matters taking into account how its past and present has shaped a specific operational matrix that is projected towards the future. We shall offer all the public perceptions held on their possibilities in Spain and in the European nations as every advance in scientific and technological matters must take into account the opinion of the citizenry. Finally, there are some final reflections that rather than close the debate leave some questions unanswered. The future should be constructed through dialogue and consensus in a matter of such importance
