ABSTRACT

Background: Obesity management in young women necessitates interventions that include dietary modification and physical exercise. High-intensity lifestyle modification is effective in managing obesity in young women. Objectives: The study determined the effectiveness of a nurse-led lifestyle modification intervention (NLLMI) on obesity among young women in India. Methods: The study adopted a quasi-experimental pre- and post-interventional control group research design. The study was conducted among obese young women in the communities of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India. The participants were selected using convenient sampling technique. The sample included 150 women in the study group and 150 in the control group. The NLLMI comprising of exercises and dietary modifications were taught to the participants for 30 min three times a week for 24 weeks. Thereafter, they were encouraged to follow the diet and perform the exercises on their own for the next 12 weeks. Practice diary was maintained by the participants and they were encouraged to continue the intervention through the phone. The participants in the control group did not engage in the NLLMI until the post-test. However, they did receive the same NLLMI after the trial was over. Results: There was a high statistically significant difference (p = 0.001) between the study group and the control group the after 12th and 24th weeks of NLLMI. The study group had a significant reduction in BMI after the intervention. Conclusions: Young obese women may benefit from a NLLMI if they regularly follow the healthy eating habits and physical exercise.

ABSTRACT

The IoT can lead to disruptive healthcare innovation. Research articles on IoT in healthcare and COVID-19 pandemics are thus researched in order to discover the potential of this technology. This literature-based research may help professionals to explore solutions to associated issues and battle the COVID-19 epidemic. Using a process diagram, IoT's significant accomplishments were briefly evaluated. Then seven critical IoT technologies that look useful in healthcare during the COVID-19 Pandemic are identified and illustrated. Finally, in the COVID-19 Pandemic, potential fundamental IoT applications were identified for the medical industry with a short explanation. The present predicament has opened up a fresh avenue to creativity in our everyday lives. The Internet of Things is an up-and-coming technology that enhances and gives better solutions in the medical area, such as appropriate medical record-keeping, sample, device integration, and cause of sickness. IoT's sensor-based technology gives a remarkable ability to lower the danger of intervention in challenging circumstances and is helpful for the pandemic type COVID-19. In the sphere of medicine, IoT's emphasis is on helping to treat diverse COVID-19 situations accurately. It facilitates the work of the surgeon by reducing risks and enhancing overall performance. Using this technology, physicians may readily identify changes in the COVID-19's vital parameters. These information-based services provide new prospects for healthcare as they advance towards the ideal technique for an information system to adapt world-class outcomes by improving hospital treatment systems. Medical students may now be better taught and led in the future for the identification of sickness. Proper use of IoT may assist handle several medical difficulties such as speed, affordability, and complexity appropriately. It may simply be adapted to track patients' calorific intake and therapy with COVID-19 asthma, diabetes, and arthritis. In COVID-19 pandemic days, this digitally managed health management system may enhance the overall healthcare performance.

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic has been scattering speedily around the world since 2019. Due to this pandemic, human life is becoming increasingly involutes and complex. Many people have died because of this virus. The lack of antiviral drugs is one of the reasons for the spreading of COVID-19 virus. This disease is spreading continuously and easily due to some common mistakes by people, like breathing, coughing and sneezing by infected persons. The main symptom is the normal flu. Therefore, in the present condition, the best precaution for this disease is the face mask, which covers both areas of mouth & nose. According to the government and the World Health Organization, everyone should wear a face mask in busy places like hospitals and marketplaces. In today's environment, it's difficult to tell if someone is wearing a mask or not, and physical inspection is impractical since it adds to labour costs. In this research, we present a mask detector that uses a machine learning facial categorization system to determine whether a person is wearing a mask or not, so that it may be connected to a CCTV system to verify that only persons wearing masks are allowed in.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of the present study was to elucidate the effects of feeding flaxseed meal (FSM) and turmeric rhizome powder (TRP) supplementation on tissue lipid profile, lipid metabolism, health indices, oxidative stability, and physical properties of broiler chicken meat. The 100 g FSM along with 10.0 g TRP supplementation significantly increased the ω-3 PUFA, particularly ALA, EPA, DPA, and DHA of broiler chicken meat due to the corresponding increase ∆9 and Δ5 + Δ6 desaturase activities. The increased activities of the desaturases resulted in significantly better health indices of the broiler chicken meat. The feeding of 100 g FSM along with 10.0 g TRP supplementation reduced the atherogenic and thrombogenic indices of broiler chicken meat. The 100 g FSM feeding reduced the oxidative stability, water holding capacity, extract release volume of broiler chicken meat and increased drip loss, whereas, 10.0 g TRP supplementation reversed these negative effects of FSM.

ABSTRACT

Multiple myeloma (MM) is a proliferative disorder of plasma cells which produce abnormal immunoglobulin proteins. Skin involvement is rarely found in this disorder. They are either specific or nonspecific lesions. We report four such interesting patients who presented to us initially with common dermatoses such as leukocytoclastic vasculitis, pyoderma gangrenosum, and vesiculobullous disorders and were subsequently diagnosed to have MM. There were no skeletal involvements or renal function abnormality at the time of presentation. Unusual presentation, nonresponsiveness to conventional therapy, and abnormal blood parameters prompted us to suspect some underlying systemic conditions which were later confirmed to be MM after serum immunoelectrophoresis for M-band and bone marrow biopsy.

ABSTRACT

Inflammatory linear verrucous epidermal nevus (ILVEN) is a pruritic, erythematous scaly epidermal nevus which follows a Blaschko's lines. Lichen striatus, linear Darier disease, linear porokeratosis, linear lichen planus, linear psoriasis, and the verrucous stage of incontinentia pigmenti may all have similar clinical presentations as the linear verrucous epidermal nevus. ILVEN can be distinguished from true nevoid psoriasis by pruritus and lack of response to antipsoriatic treatments. Various therapeutic modalities have been described, but no one therapy has been successful consistently. Though giant ILVEN is a relative contraindication to surgical excision, here we report a case showing effectiveness of full thickness excision and skin grafting for this condition.

OBJECTIVE: To analyse the impact of Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) on Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR). DESIGN: Retrospective analysis of maternal mortality. METHODS: Analysis of all maternal deaths between January 2001 and December 2009. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: The total number of deliveries has been steadily rising from 1,685 in 2001 to 3,957 in 2009. The MMR doubled from 1,500/100,000 live births in 2001 to 3,000/100,000 live births in 2006, then declined to 2,464/100,000 live births in 2009. Implementation of the various maternity benefit schemes has had no significant impact on the profile of dying mothers-admission-to-death interval. Deaths due to anemia and eclampsia have significantly increased (P < 0.05), whereas due to sepsis (P < 0.001) and hemorrhage (P < 0.05), deaths have significantly decreased. Almost 96 % of dying subjects received inadequate antenatal care. However, significantly less number (P < 0.001) of women are delivering at home. CONCLUSIONS: There is a need to stress the importance of good antenatal care in reducing MMR.
