ABSTRACT

This manual for physicians describes a system for the treatment of primary and secondary vibration disease in mining workers optimized for the duration of therapy including the application of preformed and natural factors. The efficacy of the proposed complex of therapeutic and preventive measures in this category of patients has been estimated based on the results of retrospective and prospective studies.

ABSTRACT

The study involving 185 patients with vibration disease and concomitant osteoarthrosis has demonstrated the positive influence of pulsed low-frequency currents in combination with hydrogen sulphide baths on the clinical course of the disease. This combined therapy produced good immediate and late post-treatment results. The data obtained suggest high efficiency of differential application of complex-modulated pulsed and fluctuating currents in patients with vibration disease. It is concluded that amplipulse therapy is the method of choice for the management of this pathology in the absence of apparatuses emitting pulsed currents in the running way regime.

ABSTRACT

Circadian rhythms of cardiovascular system vegetative provision, indices of rheohepatography and pancreas exocrine function of 417 patients with chronic pancreatitis were studied. Signs of desynchronosis were registered in more than one third of the cases. Presence of vibration disease leads to escalation of negative processes of desynchronosis. Alternate magnetic field, electrophoresis of sodium oxybutirat and interference therapy by the method of electric sleep have a clear chronotherapeutic effect. Use of given medical technologies in their most favorable period makes possible increase the results of treatment 11.4-18.3% up on.

ABSTRACT

The article contains data on complex balneotherapy of vibration disease caused by local vibration in high risk group (miners exposed to vibration), that help to justify use of means for primary and secondary prevention of vibration disease.

ABSTRACT

The authors present results of homeostasis studies in 239 patients having vibration disease due to local vibration and demonstrate drugs-free correction (physio- and balneotherapy) of disorders caused by vibration. High therapeutic efficiency meant improved peripheral hemodynamics of upper limbs, coagulation parameters, lipid metabolism and lipid peroxidation.

ABSTRACT

Hygienic evaluation covered work conditions on 4 gold mines including 3 ones for gold and arsenic and one "arsenic-free". The mines demonstrated similar occupational factors, but differed in arsenic content of the ore extracted and therefore in arsenic concentrations in air of the workplaces. Miners engaged into extraction of the arsenic-containing ore, especially those exposed to vibration and arsenic concentrations over the MAC, manifest extensive arsenic accumulation in the hair and excretion with the urine, higher morbidity with transitory disablement, more prevalent vibration disease and mortality with malignancies. Vibration disease in those subject has more severe course, serious vegetative and sensory polyneuropathy, that is believed to result from co-action of vibration and arsenic.

ABSTRACT

Hygienic evaluation of work conditions and clinical examination of workers in fluoride mines proved vibration disease to be the prevalent occupational entity in those employees. Caused by joint effects of vibration and fluor, the clinical signs in this context demonstrate short development, occupational disablement and possible connection with fluorosis. Joint effects of vibration and calcium fluoride vs. influence of the isolated hazards show more compromised functions and changes of fluor kinetics in the body.
