ABSTRACT

Conclusions: The submental flap is an optionto consider in oncologic patients, mainly in those whomby advanced age or by the existence of comorbidity adviceagainst the use of more aggressive procedures(AU)

ABSTRACT

The safety and bone-regenerative capacity of a resorbable membrane (Resolut) was evaluated by a nonrandomized prospective clinical study of patients with periodontal defects. Prior to surgical management all patients underwent scaling and root planing and were instructed on oral hygiene. The study included 18 patients (31 periodontal defects) who received surgical treatment by guided tissue regeneration (GTR) using resorbable membranes. The results were evaluated 12 months after surgery in terms of Plaque Index, bleeding index, probing depth, gingival recession, clinical attachment level, and dental mobility. The results obtained show that the use of resorbable membranes in GTR causes few complications. The mean gain in clinical attachment level (4.06 +/- 1.91 mm), with an attachment level gain of more than 3 mm in 81.2% of the defects, suggests the presence of "new attachment." This difference was clinically and statistically significant (t = 11.03, P = 0). The multivariate regression study showed that 60% of the observed variability (F = 11.48, P < 0.001) in clinical attachment level gain was accounted for by the variable's initial probing depth, the Plaque Index of the tooth subjected to GTR, and the infrabony component of the defect.

ABSTRACT

A case is described in which delayed implants were inserted after the creation of a suitable volume of maxillary crest bone. The procedure used osseointegrated implants, expanded polytetrafluoroethylene membranes, and demineralized bone.

ABSTRACT

We are made 730 inquirys about mothers to study the age in the teething begin to relationship with personal details. The issue shows a light relation in the advance teething with tall, weight, beginning the walking and female sex, and we have not shown relation with the nursing.

ABSTRACT

Randomly selected dental surgeries were visited with the aim of measuring the level of irradiation used in each. Both in the city of Bilbao, and in the province of Vizcaya, doses were found to be lower than those advised. Even so, the importance for these professionals to adopt preventive, protective measures needs to be emphasized.

ABSTRACT

Cyclosporine is a Metabolita produced by the Topocladium inflamatum fungus. This substance produces an immunosuppression of the selective type, which has been responsible for the increased use of this drug for immunological caused pathologies, especially in organ transplants to inhibit body rejection. One of its secondary characteristics or effects is gingival hyperplasia (in 30 por 100 of the cases noted) an effect which generally occurs on the level or in the area of the dental papilla. An anatomopathological study of these tissues shows an increase in collagens along with a large infiltration of plasmatic cells in different states of maturity. In this article, two cases of renal transplants using cyclosporine were monitored to evaluate its effect in any on the gingival tissues.

ABSTRACT

It is necessary to add to the antibiotic prophylaxis suggestions of the infectious endocarditis facing odontologic treatment that, in the patient to treat, clinic forms of JPL and RPP are rejected because of their proved relation with the Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans and because this last one is resistant to the recommended prophylaxis methods.
