ABSTRACT
All inhabitants of an Amerindian village in Suriname, notorious for malarial infection, participated in a Malaria prevalence study, followed by treatment of positive cases, and sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine prophylaxis for everyone for a 3 moth period. Residual spraying with DDT was applied to all huts. Laboratory examination demonstrated the presence of G6PD-deficiency among these Amerindians. Conclusions are drawn for the future of anti-malarial activities in the region......(AU)
