ABSTRACT

For developing the work, it was objectified restructuring the potential of teenagers, discussing issues related to the disbelief of the possibilities of social reintegration, and promoting strategies with them to recognize the possibilities in their lives. The methodology used was to hold thematic workshops on topics identified as relevant to the cultural and social context of those teenagers. These meetings allowed thinking the Socio-educational Measure of Assisted Freedom with another perspective, as an effective socialization environment. The results pointed a change in behavior of the teenagers, an improvement of their communication skills, and a better expression of their emotions.

ABSTRACT

Caucasians were predominant with 91.6%; 24%-completed high school; 65.9% were not vaccinated against hepatitis B; 26.9% had HIV/Aids; and 5% had other STD associated. Concluded that the profile corresponded to over 40-yearold, caucasians men and the most related hepatitis B transmission were the surgical treatment and hepatitis C transmission were drug use.

ABSTRACT

A hemicryptophane ligand soluble in water at neutral pH was obtained thanks to the derivatization of the cyclotribenzylene unit with three carboxylate groups. The corresponding Cu(ii) complex was then synthesized and its spectroscopic and electrochemical properties in water were investigated, showing that water solubilisation retains the geometry of the complex around the metal center but strongly affects its redox properties, compared to previously reported Cu(ii)@hemicryptophane complexes soluble in organic solvents.

ABSTRACT

Four new enantiomerically and diastereomerically pure hemicryptophane hosts (M-SSS-2/P-SSS-2 and M-RRR-2/P-RRR-2 pairs) were designed for the recognition of sugar derivatives. Their absolute configuration was determined from the circular dichroism spectra and DFT calculations. The host molecules were then used for the stereoselective recognition of glucopyranosides. Binding constants were obtained from (1)H NMR titration experiments showing an increase of affinity for this class of receptors, associated with an improved diastereo- and enantio-differentiation.

ABSTRACT

The first water-soluble hemicryptophane cage compound, 4, was synthesized in seven steps from commercially available products, and its complexation properties were studied. NMR and ITC experiments indicate that 4 is an efficient receptor for choline in water (ΔG° = -5.2 kcal mol(-1)). High substrate selectivity was achieved since no complexation was observed for its closely related substrates: glycine betaine and betaine aldehyde. Density functional theory calculations were performed to analyze the interactions that are involved in the formation of the inclusion complex.

ABSTRACT

The synthesis of the first members of a new class of cyclic peptide-containing hemicryptophanes is described. Synthesis was achieved through attachment of veratryl groups to the L-tyrosine side chains of a cyclic hexapeptide, c(YG)3, followed by intramolecular cyclodehydration to generate the CTV unit. The diastereomeric P- and M-hemicryptophanes were generated in a 2 : 1 ratio and were separated by chromatography. The enantioselective binding properties of the hemicryptophanes were investigated by complexation with carnitine. Both isomers were found to have significant selectivity for binding (R)-carnitine.

ABSTRACT

Enantiopure hemicryptophanes efficiently discriminate chiral ammonium neurotransmitters. The ephedrine and norephedrine molecules associate with hemicryptophane hosts to form 1:1 and 1:2 host-guest complexes. Binding constants are determined by fitting the ¹H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) titration curves to give ß1 and ß2 values, which are used to characterize the diastereomeric and enantiomeric discriminating potentials of the hosts.

ABSTRACT

Questionnaires answered by 476 students (age 15-20 yrs) attending a local school in the neighborhood of Pedra 90 in Cuiabá -MT were analyzed in order to study the characteristics of feline and canine populations in the region. The results showed that 371 (78%) of the 476 families kept 513 dogs and 307 cats. Of 573 dogs, 289 (56.3%) were male and 224 (43.7%) were female. Of 307 cats, 182 (59.28%) were male and 125 (40.72%) were female. The owners of 474 (92.4%) dogs and 267 (86.9%) cats reported that their pets had been vaccinated against rabies.
