ABSTRACT

The experimental data have been analyzed on the labeled cell distribution related to the grain count over the nucleus in autographs of histological sections (5 mcm) made of the rat brain subependymal zone and of epididymis duct epithelium at different time after 3H-thymidine injection and X-irradiation in the dose of 300 cGr. These results served some additional grounds to the recently established conclusion that a repeated successive decrease in the rate of DNA synthesis is occurring in the cell system starting from stem cell (level I) to semistem cell (levels II-VII) (Gracheva, 1982 r). 5 days after irradiation, at the peak of reparative proliferation, the cell reproduction was intensified, these cells having normally both middle and high levels of DNA synthesis. This process is running of the background of the inhibition of reproduction of cells with the inherent low level of DNA synthesis which are to start differentiation after mitosis. All this makes for the increase in the mean grain count over the nuclei, without changes of the inherent rates of DNA synthesis in the successive generations of the stem cells.

ABSTRACT

The paper is concerned with metabolic reconstitution in a pathologically changed lung tissue in rabbits with acute and chronic bronchopulmonary inflammation. Acute bronchopulmonary inflammation is associated with a drastic increase of the adrenaline, noradrenaline, acetylcholine, histamine and serotonin content in the abnormal lung tissue. The concentration of these substances in the blood outflowing from the lungs is also increased. The intensity of changes in the content of the biologically active substances correlated with the pattern of the developing pathological process. In lingering and chronic bronchopulmonary inflammation, the changes in the content of the biologically active substances were of undulatory character which was consequent on repeated exacerbations.

ABSTRACT

Mature rats were given intraperitoneal injections of H-3-thymidine (1 mkk/g 1-32 hours before being killed. Labelled and non-labelled mitoses and interphase cells of different types were counted in each zone of the epididymis autographs. The diurnal fluctuatiof the mitoticindex (Im) was found: form 0,19% in the day-time to 0.33% in the night at and morning hours (psmaller than 0.05). The average diurnal Im was equal to .23%-0.03. The fist wave of labelled mitoses of the epithelial cells was observed during 32 hours, tg-2 (3-5 hours) and ts(13-14 hours) were graphically calculated. The time tg-2-tm-ts was equal to 19-20 hours. Therprietal (0.87%), basal (1.87%) and oreolar (2.20%) cells of the epidermis duct labelled 1 hour after ijection of H-3-thymidine. The apical cells (3.%) were labelled 8 hours later, while the light ones were not labelled during the whole period of observation. On these grounds, the parietal, basal and oreolar cells are considered to be proliferative cells, while the light and apical ones-to be their derivatives in the epidemis epithelium. Besides, the oreolar cells may be regareded as a foreign element in the epidermis according to their morphological features and ability to migrate throughout the total depth of the epithelial layer.
