ABSTRACT

A case of melanotic progonoma detected in an infant is presented. Microscopically, the tumor was found to consist of a rough fibrous connective tissue stroma with groups of minor monomorphic lymphocyte-like cells and glandular-like cavities that were lined with melanin-containing hyperchromatic rounded and flattened epithelioid cells. The tumor occurs rarely and is a matter of some difficulty in its histologic diagnosis.

ABSTRACT

A complex morphologic procedure for evaluating the effect of synthetic progestin treatment in 136 cases of primary endometrial cancer was analysed. Changes in structural and functional characteristics of tumor testifying to the elevated degree of cell differentiation were observed in 89.7 +/- 6.4 per cent of cases of well- and moderately-differentiated endometrial cancer. In glandular-solid cancer group, the response was registered in 52.6 +/- 11.5 per cent and manifested itself in tumor showing the same changes coupled with an increase in glandular structures, or developing squamous metaplasia in solid areas. Hormonal effects following hydroxyprogesterone capronate treatment were found in 81.8 +/- 11.6% of adenoacanthocarcinoma patients.

ABSTRACT

Changes in the histological structure of endometrial adenoacanthoma, as a result of treatment with 17 alpha-hydroxyprogesterone capronate, are discussed. The biopsy and resected material obtained from 11 patients was studied. It was shown that hormono-therapy results in an increased structural and functional differentiation of the glandular and squamous-cell components of tumor. Sensitivity to 17 alpha-hydroxyprogesterone capronate was established in 81.1% +/- 11.6 of patients.

ABSTRACT

Investigation of lymphogranulomatosis process in 42 patients included histological examinations of chains of lymph nodes with varying duration of their involvement. Lymphogranulomatosis was shown to begin with focal involvement of lymph nodes. The specific focus is initially located in the paracortical zone, then the pathological process extends into the medullary zone and finally into the cortical zone. As early and finally into the cortical zone. As early as the focal lesions occur the cell composition already corresponds to one of histological variants of lymphogranulomatosis (by Lukes' classification). No transition from variants with lymphoid prevalence to those with lymphoid exhaustion in groups of removed lymph nodes from the same patient was observed indicating independent development of each histological type and its stability for a given patient. No correlation between the clinical stage and morphological type of lymphogranulomatosis was established.

ABSTRACT

On the material of 100 intraoperative preparations of the uterus with its adnexa the authors have shown dynamically some changes in the cellular and noncellular components of local connective tissue stroma of the uterine neck in dysplasia, intraepithelial cancer, microcarcinoma and developed invasive cancer of the uterine cervix. An attempt is made to more precisely estimate the role of round-cell infiltration and stroma-formation processes for establishing the prognosis of the disease.

ABSTRACT

It was established on the material of 15 observations that carcinosarcomas represented a distinct group of rarely occurring malignancies. Among malignant tumors of the body of the uterus, cervix and ovary they comprise 1.5%, 0.03% and 0.17%, respectively. The details of the structure of two tumor components, epithelial and mesenchymal, are described. A special group of carcinosarcomas of the body of the uterus and ovary consisting of three tumor germs, adenoacanthocarcinosarcoma, is distinguished.
