ABSTRACT

The synergistic effects on the 0.18 µm PPD CISs induced by neutron displacement damage and gamma ionization damage are investigated. The typical characterizations of the CISs induced by the neutron displacement damage and gamma ionization damage are presented separately. The CISs are irradiated by reactor neutron beams up to 1 × 1011 n/cm2 (1 MeV neutron equivalent fluence) and 60Co γ-rays up to the total ionizing dose level of 200 krad(Si) with different sequential order. The experimental results show that the mean dark signal increase in the CISs induced by reactor neutron radiation has not been influenced by previous 60Co γ-ray radiation. However, the mean dark signal increase in the CISs induced by 60Co γ-ray radiation has been remarkably influenced by previous reactor neutron radiation. The synergistic effects on the PPD CISs are discussed by combining the experimental results and the TCAD simulation results of radiation damage.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study is to explore the application value of two-dimensional ultrasound and shear wave elastography (SWE) in the multidimensional evaluation of diastasis recti abdominis (DRA) during different gestational periods. METHODS: A cohort of 202 gravidas that were examined in our hospital between June 2021 and September 2022 were selected for the purpose of the study, which included 26 cases with <14 weeks of pregnancy, 36 cases in the 14th-27th week of pregnancy, 36 cases in the 28th-34th week of pregnancy, 32 cases in the 35th-38th week of pregnancy, 45 cases at 42 days postpartum, and 27 cases at 3 months postpartum. The inter-rectus distance (IRD) and the thickness in each gestational period were measured, and Young's modulus of the rectus abdominis at different gestational periods was measured using SWE by two sonographers. The differences in IRD, thickness, and elasticity characteristics during different periods, and the correlation between rectus abdominis elasticity and IRD, thickness, body mass index (BMI), neonatal weight, and delivery mode were analyzed and compared. The consistency of SWE parameters obtained by different sonographers was also compared. RESULTS: There were significant differences in IRD, thickness, and Young's modulus during different gestational periods (P = .000, P < .001, P < .001). Early postpartum IRD and Young's modulus did not restore to the level of early pregnancy (P < .001, P < .001), while the thickness of rectus abdominis was not significantly different from that of early pregnancy (P = .211). The Young's modulus of rectus abdominis was negatively correlated with the IRD (r = .515), positively correlated with the thickness of rectus abdominis (r = .408), and weakly negatively correlated with maternal BMI (r = -.296). There was no significant correlation with neonatal weight or delivery mode (P = .147, .648). The Bland-Altman plot showed that the two sonographers had good consistency in evaluating the elasticity of rectus abdominis by SWE. CONCLUSION: The multidimensional evaluation of DRA by ultrasound is feasible and IRD and Young's modulus can be used to evaluate the postpartum recovery of DRA. The combination of the two can objectively reflect the severity of DRA morphology and function.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo observe the clinical efficacy of modified Shenqi Pill (肾气丸) plus Tongdu Tiaoshen Acupuncture (通督调神针刺) in the treatment of neurogenic bladder after spinal cord injury of kidney-yang deficiency syndrome. MethodsForty-six patients were randomly divided into 23 cases each in the control group and the treatment group. Both groups were given conventional treatment, i.e. oral methylcobalamin tablets (0.5 mg each time, 3 times a day) and paraplegic conventional acupuncture (once a day, 6 consecutive days a week). The control group was given simple bladder function rehabilitation training on the basis of the conventional treatment; and the treatment group was given modified Shenqi Pill orally (1 dose a day, 150 ml each time, taken warmly in morning and evening) and Tongdu Tiaoshen Acupuncture (once a day, 6 consecutive days per week) in addition to what were given to the control group. The treatment course lasted for 4 weeks. The 24 h urination frequency, 24 h urine leakage frequency, 24 h single urine volume, bladder residual urine volume, international lower urinary tract symptom (LUTS) score, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome score were compared between the two groups, and clinical effectiveness and TCM syndrome effectiveness were compared between the two groups after treatment. ResultsTwenty patients in each group were finally analyzed in this study. The number of 24 h urination, the number of 24 h urine leakage, bladder residual urine volume, LUTS score, and the TCM syndrome scores decreased after treatment in both groups, and the 24 h single urine volume increased (P<0.01); and much more improvement was found of each index in the treatment group than in the control group (P<0.05 or P<0.01). The total clinical effectiveness and TCM syndrome effectiveness in the treatment group was 85.00% (17/20) respectively, which were statistically significantly higher than 45.00% (the total clinical effectiveness, 9/20) and 60.00% (TCM syndrome effectiveness, 12/20) in the control group (P<0.01). ConclusionModified Shenqi Pill plus Tongdu Tiaoshen Acupuncture can signi-ficantly improve the clinical symptoms of neurogenic bladder patients after spinal cord injury of kidney-yang deficiency syndrome, having better effectiveness than simple bladder function rehabilitation training, and its mechanism may be related to the improvement of the injured nerve function innervating the bladder.

ABSTRACT

Coronary restenosis is an important cause of poor long-term prognosis in patients with coronary heart disease. Here, we show that lysine methyltransferase SMYD2 expression in the nucleus is significantly elevated in serum- and PDGF-BB-induced vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs), and in tissues of carotid artery injury-induced neointimal hyperplasia. Smyd2 overexpression in VSMCs (Smyd2-vTg) facilitates, but treatment with its specific inhibitor LLY-507 or SMYD2 knockdown significantly inhibits VSMC phenotypic switching and carotid artery injury-induced neointima formation in mice. Transcriptome sequencing revealed that SMYD2 knockdown represses the expression of serum response factor (SRF) target genes and that SRF overexpression largely reverses the inhibitory effect of SMYD2 knockdown on VSMC proliferation. HDAC3 directly interacts with and deacetylates SRF, which enhances SRF transcriptional activity in VSMCs. Moreover, SMYD2 promotes HDAC3 expression via tri-methylation of H3K36 at its promoter. RGFP966, a specific inhibitor of HDAC3, not only counteracts the pro-proliferation effect of SMYD2 overexpression on VSMCs, but also inhibits carotid artery injury-induced neointima formation in mice. HDAC3 partially abolishes the inhibitory effect of SMYD2 knockdown on VSMC proliferation in a deacetylase activity-dependent manner. Our results reveal that the SMYD2-HDAC3-SRF axis constitutes a novel and critical epigenetic mechanism that regulates VSMC phenotypic switching and neointimal hyperplasia.

ABSTRACT

Chirality plays an important role in biological processes, and enantiomers often possess similar physical properties and different physiological functions. Thus, chiral detection of enantiomers has become a hot topic in recent years, and methods to enhance chiral molecular recognition are in urgent demand. In this work, a polarization detection method was used for different chiral drugs based on a specially designed metasurface composed of asymmetric double-opened rings and the surface enhancement effect of gold nanoparticles (GNPs). The experiment results show that the frequency shifts caused by the nearfield interaction of the metasurface and biomolecules have been significantly improved by GNPs, and both the limit of detection and detection precision of the metasurface can reach the 10-5 g ml-1 level. Moreover, the polarization sensing characterized by right circular polarization (RCP), the polarization elliptical angle (PEA), and the polarization rotation angle (PRA) shows that the enantiomers of three drugs can be distinguished, especially using the PEA spectrum; the maximum difference between enantiomers is over 30° with a precision of 6.6 × 10-7 g mL-1. Our THz polarization sensing and the GNP enhancement method inspire an efficient strategy for the highly sensitive detection of enantiomers.

ABSTRACT

Carboacyloxylation of internal alkynes is emerging as a powerful and straightforward strategy for enol ester synthesis. However, the reported examples come with limitations, including the utilization of noble metal catalysts, the control of regio- and Z/E selectivity, and an application in the synthesis of enol carbonates. Herein, a boron Lewis acid-catalyzed intermolecular carboacyloxylation of ynamides with esters to access fully substituted acyclic enol esters in high yield with generally high Z/E selectivity (up to >96 : 4) is reported. Most importantly, readily available allylic carbonates are also compatible with this difunctionalization reaction, representing an atom-economic, catalytic and stereoselective protocol for the construction of acyclic ß,ß-disubstituted enol carbonates of amides for the first time. The application of the carboacyloxylation products to decarboxylative allylations provided a ready access to enantioenriched α-quaternary amides. Moreover, experimental studies and theoretical calculations were performed to illustrate the reaction mechanism and rationalize the stereochemistry.

ABSTRACT

Hole transport materials (HTMs) are a key component of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). The small molecular 2,2',7,7'-tetrakis(N,N-di-p-methoxyphenyl)-amine-9,9'-spirobifluorene (spiro-OMeTAD, termed "Spiro") is the most successful HTM used in PSCs, but its versatility is imperfect. To improve its performance, we developed a novel spiro-type HTM (termed "DP") by substituting four anisole units on Spiro with 4-methoxybiphenyl moieties. By extending the π-conjugation of Spiro in this way, the HOMO level of the HTM matches well with the perovskite valence band, enhancing hole mobility and increasing the glass transition temperature. DP-based PSC achieves high power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of 25.24 % for small-area (0.06 cm2 ) devices and 21.86 % for modules (designated area of 27.56 cm2 ), along with the certified efficiency of 21.78 % on a designated area of 27.86 cm2 . The encapsulated DP-based devices maintain 95.1 % of the initial performance under ISOS-L-1 conditions after 2560 hours and 87 % at the ISOS-L-3 conditions over 600 hours.

ABSTRACT

Currently, the full potential of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) is limited by chargecarrier recombination owing to imperfect passivation methods. Here, the recombination loss mechanisms owing to the interfacial energy offset and defects are quantified. The results show that a favorable energy offset can reduce minority carriers and suppress interfacial recombination losses more effectively than chemical passivation. To obtain high-efficiency PSCs, 2D perovskites are promising candidates, which offer powerful field effects and require only modest chemical passivation at the interface. The enhanced passivation and charge-carrier extraction offered by the 2D/3D heterojunction PSCs has boosted their power conversion efficiency to 25.32% (certified 25.04%) for small-size devices and to 21.48% for a large-area module (with a designated area of 29.0 cm2 ). Ion migration is also suppressed by the 2D/3D heterojunction, such that the unencapsulated small-size devices maintain 90% of their initial efficiency after 2000 h of continuous operation at the maximum power point.

ABSTRACT

Despite the remarkable rise in the efficiency of perovskite-based solar cells, the stress-induced intrinsic instability of perovskite active layers is widely identified as a critical hurdle for upcoming commercialization. Herein, a long-alkyl-chain anionic surfactant additive is introduced to chemically ameliorate the perovskite crystallization kinetics via surface segregation and micellization, and physically construct a glue-like scaffold to eliminate the residual stresses. As a result, benefiting from the reduced defects, suppressed ion migration and improved energy level alignment, the corresponding unencapsulated perovskite single-junction and perovskite/silicon tandem devices exhibit impressive operational stability with 85.7% and 93.6% of their performance after 3000 h and 450 h at maximum power point tracking under continuous light illumination, providing one of the best stabilities to date under similar test conditions, respectively.

ABSTRACT

The development of an efficient and straightforward method for cyanation of alcohols is of great value. However, the cyanation of alcohols always requires toxic cyanide sources. Herein, an unprecedented synthetic application of an isonitrile as a safer cyanide source in B(C6F5)3-catalyzed direct cyanation of alcohols is reported. With this approach, a wide range of valuable α-aryl nitriles was synthesized in good to excellent yields (up to 98%). The reaction can be scaled up and the practicability of this approach is further manifested in the synthesis of an anti-inflammatory drug, naproxen. Moreover, experimental studies were performed to illustrate the reaction mechanism.

ABSTRACT

CuSCN has been widely considered a promising candidate for low-cost and high-stable hole transport material in perovskite semitransparent solar cells (STSCs). However, the low conductivity of the solution-processed CuSCN hole transport layer (HTL) hinders the hole extraction and transport in devices, which makes it hard to achieve devices with high performance. Herein, we report a facile additive engineering approach to optimize the p conductivity of CuSCN HTLs in perovskite STSCs. The n-butylammonium iodide additive facilitates the formation of Cu2+ and generates more Cu vacancies in the CuSCN HTL. This realizes a significant enhancement of the hole concentration and p conductivity of the film. Moreover, the additive improves the solubility of the CuSCN precursor solution and results in a uniform coverage on the perovskite active layer. Therefore, the perovskite STSC with a high power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 19.24% has been achieved, which is higher than that of the spiro-OMeTAD (18.83%) and CuSCN (17.45%) counterparts. In addition, the unencapsulated CuSCN-based device retains 87.5% of the initial PCE after 20 days in the ambient atmosphere.

ABSTRACT

The pathogenesis of ulcerative colitis (UC) is unclear. House dust mite (HDM) is associated with immune inflammation in the body. This study is designed to identify the association between HDM and UC clinical symptoms. UC patients (n = 86) and non-UC control (NC) subjects (n = 64) were recruited. Colon lavage fluids (CLF) were collected from HDM skin prick test positive patients during colonoscopy, and analyzed by immunological approaches. HDM was detected in fecal samples, which was positively correlated with UC clinical symptoms. HDM-specific eosinophils and Th2 cells were detected in CLF, which could be specifically activated by exposing to HDM in the culture. Direct exposure to HDM induced eosinophil activation in the colon of UC patients. UC patients displayed elevated levels of Th2 cytokines in the serum. UC clinical symptom scores were positively correlated with serum levels of Th2 cytokines. HDM was detected in UC patients' stools, which was positively correlated with UC clinical symptoms. Direct exposure to HDM could trigger eosinophilic activation of the colon.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Prostatic mucinous carcinoma (MC) and prostatic signet ring cell carcinoma are two variants of prostate cancer. MC has a higher overall survival time among all variants, while signet ring cell carcinoma is associated with lower survival time relative to other carcinomas. Only a small proportion of prostatic MC may contain signet ring cells. Over the last several decades there were only 12 patients that were documented in two studies. CASE SUMMARY: We report on a 64-year-old man who was diagnosed with prostatic MC after he received a robotic-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy in the West China Hospital. After robotic-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy, the patient underwent three successive transurethral resections of bladder tumors. Pathological examination of the first transurethral resection of bladder tumors specimen indicated that the neoplasm was prostatic MC that had metastasized to the urinary bladder. The subsequent two transurethral resections of bladder tumors indicated the presence of prostatic mucinous carcinoma with signet ring cells. CONCLUSION: This case report aimed to share the management experience, raise awareness, and highlight the importance of multidisciplinary cooperation of prostatic mucinous carcinoma with signet ring cells.

ABSTRACT

Despite the remarkable progress in power conversion efficiency of perovskite solar cells, going from individual small-size devices into large-area modules while preserving their commercial competitiveness compared with other thin-film solar cells remains a challenge. Major obstacles include reduction of both the resistive losses and intrinsic defects in the electron transport layers and the reliable fabrication of high-quality large-area perovskite films. Here we report a facile solvothermal method to synthesize single-crystalline TiO2 rhombohedral nanoparticles with exposed (001) facets. Owing to their low lattice mismatch and high affinity with the perovskite absorber, their high electron mobility and their lower density of defects, single-crystalline TiO2 nanoparticle-based small-size devices achieve an efficiency of 24.05% and a fill factor of 84.7%. The devices maintain about 90% of their initial performance after continuous operation for 1,400 h. We have fabricated large-area modules and obtained a certified efficiency of 22.72% with an active area of nearly 24 cm2, which represents the highest-efficiency modules with the lowest loss in efficiency when scaling up.

ABSTRACT

In this experiment, Panax notoginseng saponins chitosan nanoparticles(PNS-NPs) were prepared by self-assembly and their appearance, particle size, encapsulation efficiency, drug loading, polydispersity index(PDI), Zeta potential, and microstructure were characterized. The prepared PNS-NPs were intact in structure, with an average particle size of(209±0.258) nm, encapsulation efficiency of 42.34%±0.28%, a drug loading of 37.63%±0.85%, and a Zeta potential of(39.8±3.122) mV. The intestinal absorption of PNS-NPs in rats was further studied. The established HPLC method of PNS was employed to investigate the effects of pH, perfusion rate, and different drugs(PNS raw materials, Xuesaitong Capsules, and PNS-NPs). The absorption rate constant(K_a) and apparent permeability coefficient(P_(app)) in the duodenum, jejunum, ileum, and colon were calculated and analyzed. As illustrated by the results, the intestinal absorption of PNS-NPs was increased in the perfusion solution at pH 6.8(P<0.05), and perfusion rate had no significant effect on the K_a and P_(app) of PNS-NPs. The intestinal absorption of PNS-NPs was significantly different from that of PNS raw materials and Xuesaitong Capsules(P<0.05), and the intestinal absorption of PNS-NPs was significantly improved.
