ABSTRACT

The effect of serum of patients with myocardial ischemia after low-level laser therapy on parameters of synaptic conductance of rat hippocampal neurons was investigated. The serum from patients with an initially low level of neuronal activity obtained after determination of laser irradiation increased the amplitude and that from patients with high activity. Thus the process of normalization of these parameters was observed. Our results may help to optimize the course of medical treatment, and subsequently give an insight to understanding of the mechanism of therapeutic effect of laser irradiation.

ABSTRACT

The isolated neurons of snail (Lymnaea stagnalis) were as test object for the evaluation of the blood serum neuroactivity. The blood serum was tested before treatment and after six applications of intravenous laser therapy (ILT). All blood serum specimens produced depolarization of the cell membrane potential. The quantitative comparison of membrane toxicity of control and experimental blood serum specimens permitted to divide the patients into three groups. Blood serum (after six applications of ILT of patients from the first and second groups produced a lower membrane toxicity effect on neurons. In the groups the membrane toxicity effect decrease by 43% +/- 10.3 and 7.3 +/- 2.2% respectively. In third group the membrane toxicity effect increased by 21.5 +/- 4.5. All patients from the third group had myocardial infarction less than one year before being given a course on the treatment. The ILT was found to be able to decrease the activity of the blood serum components disrupting normal functioning of the ionic mechanisms of cell membranes.

ABSTRACT

Topographic mapping method was used to study the spatial-temporal organization of neocortical electrical activity at norm and asthenic neurosis. Patients with asthenic syndrome had shown right hemisphere dominance by the number of cortical interconnections in theta-band and interhemispheric discordance by coherence function.

ABSTRACT

The parameters of zymosan-stimulated luminol-dependent chemiluminescence of whole capillary and venous blood were compared in patients with chronic nonspecific diseases of the lungs. The parameters of a chemiluminescence response were in good correlation in general, but the mean values of luminescence intensity of granulocytes from the blood collected from the finger were 1.6 times lower that may be explained by the inhibiting effects of the lymph and intercellular fluid.

ABSTRACT

Protein synthesis and reception for 1,2-3H-(N)-dexamethasone were studied in A, B, C, D subpopulations of rat thymocytes after treatment with thymosine, cyclic adenosine-3,' 5'-monophosphate (cAMP) and caffeine. Thymosine inhibited the 1,2-3H-(N)-dexamethasone reception in rat thymocyte subpopulations A, B and C by 30-40%, stimulated the protein synthesis in A and B fractions by 30% as well as inhibited the synthesis in D fraction by 14%. Caffeine, administered together with thymosine, inhibited the protein synthesis by 80% in C and D thymocyte subpopulations and - by 47% in B subpopulations. After simultaneous treatment with exogenous cAMP, thymosine and caffeine the protein synthesis was inhibited by 14% in all the thymocyte subpopulations. The data obtained suggest that thymosine and caffeine affect the various lymphocyte T subpopulations, dissimilar in their differentiation.

ABSTRACT

The incubation of healthy donors peripheral blood lymphocytes with thymosin was shown to increase the content of high avide "active" lymphocytes bearing receptors for SRBC, lymphocytes bearing receptors for C(2) component of complement and for Fc-portion of immunoglobulins. The proportion of cap-forming Ig-positive lymphocytes was shown to increase too. The role of T and B lymphocyte subpopulations and their precursors as thymosin action target cells is discussed.

ABSTRACT

It was revealed by the method of rosette-formation that the content T- and B-lymphocytes differed in human blood depending on the time of the day and the season. T-cells were at their maximum in the morning and B-cells -- in the evening. The percentage content of B-cells was greater in autumn than in winter.
