ABSTRACT

The work gives an analysis of results of operative treatment of 63 patients with different injuries of the musculus quadriceps femoris. Problems of diagnostics, surgical strategy and operative technique are discussed depending on the character of injuries (open and closed), their localization and ways of rehabilitation of the patients in the postoperative period.

ABSTRACT

In the article is presented the improved method of knee joint extension system restoration by means of blocking wire loop, passed through the formed canals: in tibia--one cross canal and in patella--two longitudinal canals. This method has been applied in 6 patients with injuries of proper ligament of patella and in 18--with patella avulsive fractures. Long-term results have been followed with 12 patients. 11 of them achieved complete restoration of knee joint mobility irrespective of the injury nature.

ABSTRACT

Experience with the clinic in operative treatment of fresh damage of the ligaments of the knee joint (90 cases) is analysed. The authors dwell on the problems of diagnosis and the choice of the surgical tactics in isolated and multiple injuries to the ligaments. It is shown that operative restoration of the damaged ligaments in the earliest period after the trauma makes it possible to normalize the relationship of the injured elements. Good results were produced--complete stability and restoration of the function of the joint allows the suggested tactics to be recommended for wide introduction into traumatological practice.

ABSTRACT

The article analyses problems of the diagnosis, the choice of the therapeutic tactics, and the results of operative treatment in 478 patients. Operation undertaken as early as possible after the injury is indicated in fresh fractures of the patella with displacement of the fragments, ruptures of the tendon of the quadriceps femoris muscle and the patellar ligament. The authors prefer stable fixation of patellar fractures by means of a "tightening" wire loop and a "blocking" wire loop in injuries of the patellar ligament. Additional external immobilization is not employed. Study of the late-term results of treatment confirm the expediency of wider introduction of these methods into traumatological practice.
