ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION: The importance of the dental implantology has influenced the development of many treatment methods in this field. The aim of our study is to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of the treatment with TIOLOX-DENTAURUM dental implants in cases of partial and total lack of teeth, compared to classic dentures. To conduct our research we have used the prospective method. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The analyzed cases have undergone surgical treatment at the "Policlinic Shoshi" in Prishtina during 2010-2011. This study included 29 patients, 23 in the research group and 6 in the control group. The patients involved in the study were 30-59 years old. 52,2% of our patients were 30-39 years old, while 17,4% were 50-59 years old. RESULTS: In the research group, the average time of placing the dental bridges in the lower jaw was 2 months and 4.2 months in the control group. In the upper jaw, the average time was 3 months for the experimental group and 5,4 months for the control group. CONCLUSION: The period after the placement of implants until the placement of dentures, can be shortened from 4-6 months to 3 months for the upper jaw and from 3 to 2 months for the lower jaw.

ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION: In the Eye Clinic during 2008-2010 we have treated 446 patients, where 252 were hospitalized patients while 184 weren't. Treated patients were 1-85 years old. AIM OF THIS STUDY: AIM OF THIS STUDY is to present our experience in treatment of patients with eye lids injuries and their reconstruction. MATERIAL AND METHODS: In patients that were treated in the Eye Clinic, we have applied surgical methods, anti-tetanic protection and local and general medical therapy. 252 hospitalized patients also had other injuries of eye such as: rupture of bulbus, traumatic cataract, prolapsus iris, hyphaema in CA, prolapsus CV, VLC perforanc cornea et corpus alieni in CA, hyphaema totalis, VLC sclera, corpus alieni intrabulbares. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Patients that weren't hospitalized were 5-10 years old, 25-35 years old and 20-25 years old. Hospitalized patients were 5-10 years old, 20-25 years old and 30-35 years old. By this we can conclude that there wasn't any significant difference based on the patients' age. In the hospitalized cases with eye-lid injuries, most injuries of the eye were: VLC perforanc cornea cum prolapsus iridea, Corpus alieni in CA et hyphaema.

ABSTRACT

Strabismus is an eye deviation, when both eyes cannot be directed at the same time towards the object that is being viewed. Strabismus is observed in approximately 25% of children under 3 years of age, and in approximately 3% of all children. There were 77 patients involved in this study, with Esotropia alternans, that had surgical operations at the Ophthalmology Clinic, University Clinical Centre of Kosova (UCCK), from 2005-2006. Patients were divided in two groups: 1. Researched group--involving 33 patients that had surgical interventions for weakening the functions of the inner straight muscle in both eyes, and 2. Control Group--involving 44 patients that had surgical interventions in one eye intervening in two muscles with contrary actions--the inner straight muscle, weakening it in retro position, and the outer straight muscle, strengthening its function through myectomy. Medium value of the objective angle after the operation, in distance of 6 meters, in the patients with Esotropia alternans from the Experimental group was 6.5 delta dyoptry (standard deviation 1.9 delta dyoptry). In the Control Group, the medium value of the objective angle was 9.3 delta dyoptry (standard deviation 3.6 delta dyoptry), with significant distinction (p < 0.01). There were 16.9% patients with Esotropia alternans who had complications during the operation. In the Experimental group, complication occurred in 4 patients, or 12.1% during the surgery. It the Control Group, complications were observed in 9 patients, or 20.5%, without significant difference between the groups.
