ABSTRACT

In order to address the challenges related to the classification and recognition of soybean disease and healthy leaf identification, it is essential to have access to high-quality images. A meticulously curated dataset named "SoyNet" has been created to provide a clean and comprehensive dataset for research purposes. The dataset comprises over 9000 high-quality soybean images, encompassing healthy and diseased leaves. These images have been captured from various angles and directly sourced from soybean agriculture fields; The soybean leaves images are organized into two sub-folders: SoyNet Raw Data and SoyNet Pre-processing Data. Within the SoyNet Raw Data folder are separate folders for healthy and diseased images captured using a digital camera. The SoyNet Pre-processing Data folder comprises resized images of 256*256 pixels and the grayscale versions of disease and healthy images, following a similar organizational structure. We captured the images using the Nikon digital camera and the Motorola mobile phone camera, utilizing different angles, lighting conditions, and backgrounds. They were taken in different lighting conditions and backgrounds at soybean cultivation fields to represent the real-world scenario accurately. The proposed dataset is valuable for testing, training, and validating soybean leaf disease classification.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES: To detect Helicobacter Pylori [HP] in tonsillar tissue of recurrent tonsillitis cases and assess the possible role of Laryngopharyngeal reflux [LPR] in tonsillar HP infection. METHODS: A prospective study was done on the cited subject in a sample size of 50 paediatric patients [Age group: 6-18 years] suffering from recurrent tonsillitis. LPR was diagnosed by Reflux Symptom index [RSI] and Reflux Finding score [RFS]. A score of more than 7 and 13 was regarded as significant for RFS and RSI respectively. Patients with both scores significant were regarded to be suffering from LPR. Tonsillar specimen after tonsillectomy were subjected to urease test, histopathology [ Modified Giemsa Staining] and culture to detect HP. A minimum of two positive tests of the mentioned three were taken as gold standard to diagnose colonization of HP. Tabulated data was statistically analysed. RESULTS: We recorded an incidence of 9% [18 cases] for LPR in recurrent tonsillitis. No case of HP colonization of tonsils was detected in this case series, even in patients of LPR. CONCLUSION: We conclude that tonsils are not an extra gastric reservoir of HP. In addition, there is no aetiological relationship between recurrent tonsillitis and HP. And lastly, LPR is not a significant factor for colonization of tonsils by HP.

ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION: Presence of two primary malignancies is rare and occurs in 3-5% of the cancer patients. As per our extensive internet research, this is the only reported case of a synchronous sino-nasal embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma with squamous cell carcinoma-tongue. The case report is important because of the rare diagnosis and the challenge we faced in the diagnosis and treatment of the patient because of the paucity of literature available on management adult rhabdomyosarcoma. CASE REPORT: We present a very rare case of an adult male with a sino-nasal mass diagnosed to be an embryonal type rhabdomyosarcoma. The patient also had a moderately differentiated squamous cell carcinoma-tongue for the past 8 months. Radiological investigations were done to see the extent of the sino-nasal mass and the extent of tongue lesion, which was seen to be involving the base of the tongue. The patient was referred for chemoradiotherapy but succumbed to the disease after 2 weeks of treatment. CONCLUSION: Occurrence of rhabdomyosarcoma in synchronous malignancies is extremely rare as the most common first as well as second primary malignancy in a diagnosed case of head and neck cancer is squamous cell carcinoma. A multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of adult rhabdomyosarcoma has been recommended. The combined use of chemoradiotherapy and surgery has improved treatment in the recent past but RMS in adults is still a rare head and neck tumour that carries a poor prognosis despite aggressive therapy.

ABSTRACT

The motion generated at the capturing time of electro-encephalography (EEG) signal leads to the artifacts, which may reduce the quality of obtained information. Existing artifact removal methods use canonical correlation analysis (CCA) for removing artifacts along with ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD) and wavelet transform (WT). A new approach is proposed to further analyse and improve the filtering performance and reduce the filter computation time under highly noisy environment. This new approach of CCA is based on Gaussian elimination method which is used for calculating the correlation coefficients using backslash operation and is designed for EEG signal motion artifact removal. Gaussian elimination is used for solving linear equation to calculate Eigen values which reduces the computation cost of the CCA method. This novel proposed method is tested against currently available artifact removal techniques using EEMD-CCA and wavelet transform. The performance is tested on synthetic and real EEG signal data. The proposed artifact removal technique is evaluated using efficiency matrices such as del signal to noise ratio (DSNR), lambda (λ), root mean square error (RMSE), elapsed time, and ROC parameters. The results indicate suitablity of the proposed algorithm for use as a supplement to algorithms currently in use.

ABSTRACT

Congenital rubella syndrome involves a configuration of systemic and cutaneous manifestations in a neonate due to in utero infection caused by the rubella virus. The case of a preterm neonate with blueberry muffin lesions and classical as well as rare systemic features of congenital rubella syndrome is reported.
