ABSTRACT

In the clinic there were 545 patients treated for postgastroresectional syndromes, 289 (53%) of them had associated postgastroresectional syndromes. A mild degree of clinical manifestations of the associated syndromes was found in 11%; medium degree in 35% and severe--in 54% of the patients. An individualized approach to the decision for methods of reconstructive operations was substantiated which allowed to get positive results in 95% of the patients. Postoperative lethality was 1.8%.

ABSTRACT

An experience with treatment of 545 patients with organic, functional and combined postgastroresectional syndromes (PGRS) is analyzed. The patients are divided into groups depending on the character of the syndromes and their combinations. The most frequent causes of the development of PGRS are formulated. Special methods of preoperative examination and preparing are described which allow individual approach to choice of the method of reconstructive-restorative operations. Some technical details of the reconstructive interventions are described. In 95% of the patients operated upon long-term results of treatment were good and satisfactory.

ABSTRACT

The work generalizes results of diagnostics, prophylactics and treatment of reflux-esophagitis in 174 patients with resection of the stomach by the method of Hofmeister--Finsterer. The preventive use of antireflux operations (frontal crurorrhaphy and fundoesophagophrenorrhaphy) proved to be effective. Resection of the stomach in combination with hiatoplasty was followed by a less amount of reflux-esophagitis (from 48% to 10%) in the remote postoperative period.

ABSTRACT

The authors make an analysis of findings of endoscopic and rentgenological methods of examination of patients with incompetent closing apparatus of the cardioesophageal zone which increased the informative value and rentgen-endoscopic criteria of diagnostics of hiatal hernias and functional incompetence of the cardia, helped to find out their correlation with disturbed functions of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum. The correct diagnosis in its turn facilitates choice of the adequate method of treatment.

ABSTRACT

The work generalized the authors' experience with the treatment of 83 patients with pathological states after vagotomy. On 61 of them operations were performed, 22 patients were subjected to conservative treatment. Organic disorders were revealed in 48.4%, functional disturbances were found in 22.9%; 28.7% of the patients had associated disorders. The conservative treatment was not effective enough. Good long-term results after operative reconstructive-restorative operations and resections of the stomach were obtained in 96.7%.

ABSTRACT

The aim of the investigation was to study the "predisposing" conditions and risk factors in latent period of the development of gastric stump cancer in patients after gastric resection for pyloroduodenal ulcers. The authors consider the conditions preceding the appearance of gastric stump cancer to be the growing strain of the lymphoplasmocellular infiltration of the resected stomach mucosa in association with the decreased activity of cell immunity.
