ABSTRACT

The authors suggest a scale for assessment of face esthetics, based on the notion of "esthetic perception" and anthropometric data. The scale consists of 6 grades, from disproportional (1 score) to proportional harmonic (6 scores). The method of expert evaluation of face esthetics facilitates planning of comprehensive treatment of patients with maxillodentofacial abnormalities and deformations and helps more objectively assess the results of treatment and the efficacy of this or that treatment modality.

ABSTRACT

Since the known classifications of maxillodental abnormalities are either not up-to-date or essentially differ from the WHO classification, the authors suggest a working scheme for classification of maxillodental abnormalities, that is based on the international classification of diseases. All the principal disorders of the maxillodental system structure are taken into consideration in the suggested scheme, that is, in fact, a clinico-morphologic and therefore pathogenetic classification.
