ABSTRACT

Objective To study bacteria-blocking effect of surgical gowns with new material.Methods Semi-quantitative and qualitative testing methods were used to detect bacteria-blocking rates of key sites of surgical gowns(chest and forearm), the detected samples included sample A (composite material, unused), sample B (composite material, after washing 100 times), and sample C (monolayer material, unused).Results In semi-quantitative testing,the average bacteria-blocking rates of three samples were 75.47%, 70.78%, and 73.73% respectively.In qualitative testing,three samples could effectively block the penetration of Staphylococcus aureus under wet condition and Bacillus subtilis var.niger spores under dry condition.Conclusion In semi-quantitative testing, all three kinds of samples had bacteria-blocking effect, and the average bacteria-blocking rate was> 70%;in qualitative testing, three samples all meet requirements of bacteria-blocking effect under wet and dry condition.

ABSTRACT

Potential toxicity of CoQ(10) was studied in rats by oral gavage for 90 days at 500, 1500, and 3000 mg/kg.day. A 15-day recovery period after the administration period was investigated. Body weight and food consumption were measured throughout the study. Meanwhile, clinical observations were recorded. Hematological and blood chemistry parameters were evaluated at both the end of the dosing period and the end of the recovery period. Gross-pathologic and histopathologic examination was performed on select tissues from all animals. No adverse changes in mortality and clinical signs occurred. The body weights of males in the 1500 mg/kg dosage group were slightly reducted; likewise, the food consumption in 3000 mg/kg female rats decreased, but this is not a dose-dependent behavior. Significant change of liver function (TRIGL) and CHOL did not show a dose-dependent effect. Weight of ovary and ovary-to-body weight ratio decreased in the 1500 mg/kg dosage groups. Meanwhile, the uterus -to-body weight ratio increased the in 3000 mg/kg dosage groups. However, there were no significant histopathological changes observed in ovary and uterus: so they were not considered to be adverse. It suggested that CoQ(10) is relatively safe on the test dosage administration. Nevertheless, appetite the body weight, blood lipid and liver function should be observed during long-term clinical administration of this drug with high dosage. Overall, CoQ(10) was well tolerated by male and female rats at dose levels up to 3000 mg/kg.day.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To research the development of the content of total saponin in Platycodon grandifloeum(Jacq.) A.DC.and Platycodon grandifloeum(Jacq.) A.DC.var.Hort so that the best harvest time was found. METHODS: Using the methods of cluster analysis and according to the examination method ruled in the 2005 version 〈The People's Republic of China Prarmacopoeia〉,the content of total saponin in Platycodon grandiflorum in different harvest time was compared. RESULTS: Platycodon grandifloeum(Jacq.) A.DC and Platycodongrandifloeum(Jacq.) A.DC.var.Hort respectively on September 20,September 30 are the largest yield and the largest content of total saponin in root,that time is the best harvest time. CONCLUSION: The method is simple,accurate and reliable.

ABSTRACT

In this paper , 2280 strains of suspicious Shigella c culture were detected by the diagnostic typing phage set for Enterobacteriaceae, the routine identification of them were carried oat at the same time . The results showed that 100% of shigella cultures were lysed with 10~3RTD and 99.9% lysed with 1RTD of phage Sh. 12.3% of 65 non-shigeUa cultures agglutinating with typing serum of shigeUa was lysed with 10~3RTD, 4.6% lysed with 1RTD of phage Sh. The determination of lytic-pattern of 2215 shigella culture indicated that only 3 strains of Boyd 5 of lytic-pattern 3 were not reported in literature, the rest strains were consistent to fomer studies. The nonshigella cultures lysed by Sh 10~3RTD could be excluded with 1RTD and its lytic-pattern. 20 strains of Enteroinvasive Escherichia coli possessing shigeUa-related antigens could be differentiated by Sh 10~3RTD. 1RTD and its lytic-pattern.
