ABSTRACT

Results of the experiments carried out show that the use of the activated carbon fibrous material "Dnipro" for medical purposes (ABBM "Dnipro" MP) and the suspension of high-dispersity iron combined in treatment of infected and suppurating wounds is associated with a more pronounced therapeutical effect than application to the wound surfaces of the standard ABBM "Dnipro" MP. The compositional method using ABBM "Dnipro" MP and high-dispersity iron obtainable by thermochemical techniques has a marked antimicrobial action and stimulates the course of the wound process.

ABSTRACT

High-dispersion iron endowed with certain physical and chemical and medical and biological characteristics was shown to be helpful in treating malignant tumors of the brain. Effects were studied of ferromagnetic particles on glioma tumors, with these being transplanted under the capsule of the kidney in mice. There has been found out inhibition of growth of heterotransplants.

ABSTRACT

It has been ascertained that high-disperse powders of iron obtained by a thermochemical method in the process of formation of particles with pre-determined physical-and-chemical and medical-and-biological properties (essentially monodisperse, harmless, capable of exerting a bactericidal action, having an as-needed specific surface, corrosion resistance, withstanding sterilization heat up to 120 degrees C, allowing the magnetic characteristics to be controlled, etc.) can be used for directed transport of medicinal substances (thyroxin), hormone control, protection of the organism from overdosing of the administered drug preparations. Feasibility is shown of prolonged administration of thyroid hormones through the gastrointestinal wall with the aid of high-disperse ferromagnetic compositions as containers-carriers, which fact may secure the organism-controlled maintenance of the thyroid status in various thyroidal pathologies.

ABSTRACT

High-dispersed magnetized iron preparations of various coercive force and its preparations with Ag, Au, Pt obtained by thermochemical method have been studied for their effect on plants and bacteria pathogenic for animals. It is established that magnetized iron intensifies antibacterial effect of certain metals. Of the studied preparations only high-dispersed Fe-Ag had distinctly expressed bactericidal effect. Other preparations had weak antibacterial effect or had not it at all. All the preparations have strong adsorption capacity.
