ABSTRACT

The Artificial Insemination is a practice that provide significant improvements for breeding due to thedecrease of animals and maintenance of the reproductive indices, meaning lifting financial production returns. Thesix arrays used in this study were the breeds Large white, Duroc and crossbred with an average age of two years. Was performed lumbar pressure test determined the optimal time to perform the insemination. The players werepreviously evaluated and insemination dose was 50 ml, with two inseminations, with 12 hours. It used the spiralpipette Artificial Insemination intracervical (IAIC) and disposable pipette cap with the aid of IntrauterineInsemination catheter for intrauterine Artificial (IAIU), each model according insemination method, three arrays ineach method. The pregnancy rate was 66.67% and the rate of return to estrus was 33.33% for the two methods (P<0.05), so there was no significant statistical difference between the methods of Artificial Insemination.(AU)

ABSTRACT

The reproductive planning a squad, using natural breeding (MN), can be carried out to the maximumuse of animals (Campos, 2008). However there are practical to provide improvements in the system, such asartificial insemination (AI). twelve were used sows with an average age of two years. Pregnancy diagnosis wasperformed 30 days after the procedure. The arrays were divided into two groups, six were subjected to the IA-six(MN). The pregnancy rate was 66.67% and the rate of return to estrus was 33.33% for both treatments (P>0.05), with no significant difference. The AI in pigs shows satisfactory results in the northeast of Pará, whichprovides the producer, recognize that the method is the most profitable because it reduces the number of animalsin the herd, reducing environmental impacts and risks of transmission of sexually transmitted diseases.(AU)

ABSTRACT

The pathologies that affect the reproductive systems are occurring more frequently in veterinarymedicine, because diseases are multifactorial, so may be regional variations in the incidence of certainreproductive abnormalities. This work was conducted a survey of breeding occurrences in domestic cats, theyparticipated in the Department of Animal husbandry (SRA) of the Veterinary Hospital, located at UniversidadeFederal Rural da Amazônia (UFRA). In the period of 1 March 2013 to 2015, 18 December was 472 catsparticipated in the metropolitan area of Bethlehem, they being 432 females and 40 males, which was related tothe factors of race, gender, and age. Most of the animals were stray animals and adult age group, mostlyfemales affected in different reproductive organs, with disease in the uterus and ovaries and occurrence as rarecases of cystic Dysplasia, puerperal metritis, stump pyometra, ovarian cancer and endometrial polyps. Inaddition, there was interest in animals to seek prenatal diagnosis of pregnancy of animals.(AU)

ABSTRACT

The cystic endometrial hyperplasia pyometra complex, is a frequent and important endometrialdisorder in bitches, since it presents a risk to the lives of these animals. It tends to occur in middle-aged to olderbitches. This paper aims to report a case of closed pyometra in a Pinscher dog. On 29 of August of 2016, a fiveyear-oldPinscher dog weighing 5.7 kg was taken to the Veterinary Hospital of the Universidade Federal Ruralda Amazônia (HOVET / UFRA), due to an one year increase and decrease in abdominal region, but two monthsago it increased in size and did not regress. The animal was diagnosed by US and historical examination, withclosed pyometra. The animal recovered well postoperatively. It is important the knowledge about the animal'shistory and diagnosis by ultrasound imaging in order to conclude the diagnosis, and thus to perform quick andeffective surgical intervention.(AU)

ABSTRACT

Feline mammary hyperplasia (FMH) is a benign condition representing a disorder of body related tonatural or synthetic progestogen characterized by rapid cell growth of one or more mammary glands. Havingrapidly evolving and can cause serious systemic changes, it is necessary to use instant protocols, such as the useof aglepristone an antiprogestogen. This study aims to report a case of FMH with aglepristone-based therapy. Acat mongrel, with 9 months old, nulliparous, who received a contraceptive dose, showed an increase in thethoracic right mammary gland M1. The history and physical examination indicated the diagnosis of FMH. Thetherapy established was aglepristone in 3 doses (10mg / kg) every 24 hours. The result was total remission ofsymptoms. The use of aglepristone proved to be effective in the treatment of FMH even without castration.(AU)

ABSTRACT

We determined the prevalence of Nellore elite bulls able to reproduce in a property in northeast Pará,through clinical andrological exam of 17 bulls. This total, 15/17 (88.2%) were eligible as fit. However, 2/17(11.76%) animals showed marked testicular asymmetry (unfit). In the semen of the unfit, wasnt difference inmean lower sperm defects (11.25 ± 5.70%) and total sperm pathologies (15.37 ± 7.12%) compared to suitableanimals, whose averages were 2.66 ± 1.18% of minor defects and 5.40 ± 1.88% of total diseases. The averagesof progressive motility (73.33 ± 6.18%), concentration (1.25 ± 0,82x109mL) and higher sperm defects (2.70 ±1.42%) of elected, did not differ statistically from the unfit. The two animals with testicular hypoplasia werediagnosed by histopathologic exam. The results were satisfactory, however the occurrence of testicularhypoplasia still persists in the region, being an aggravating future for female fertility.(AU)

ABSTRACT

The objective of this study was to evaluate if the progesterone device (P4) of 3rd use would be efficientto induce the cyclicity and consequent pregnancy rate in nelore heifers. We used 65 animals with a mean weightof 338 kg. All kept in the same environmental and handling conditions. The induction of estrus was performed in33 females with P4 implant of 3rd use, thus forming Group 1 (G1 = 33), those that did not receive the implantwere allocated in Group 2 (G2 = 32). Thirty-two days post-induction protocol was performed on all animals forTAI. The data collected were tabulated in electronic spreadsheets and evaluated in the SAS software (2010). TheTAI pregnancy rate was 21.21% (G1) (7/33) and 46.88% (15/32) for (G2) (P < 0.05). Thus suggesting that priorinduction to puberty with P4 device of 3rd use was not effective.(AU)
