ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: Evaluate the bacterial reduction effect of disinfection protocols used in lower molars infected by Enterococcus faecalis. METHODS: Eighty extracted lower molars were prepared and inoculated with E. faecalis for 2 months. The teeth were then distributed into 2 control groups (n = 4) and 4 experimental groups (n = 18) in function of the disinfection protocol utilized: G1. WaveOne Gold (WOG), passive ultrasonic irrigation (PUI) and Ultracal; G2. WOG, PUI and calcium hydroxide (CH); G3. WOG, XP-Endo Finisher (XPF) and Ultracal; G4. WOG, XPF and CH. Bacteriological samples were collected previously (S1), after preparation (S2), final agitation (S3) and intracanal dressing (S4). Microbial growth was assessed according to culture turbidity and UV spectrophotometry. Statistical analyses used the Friedman test for paired samples and Kruskal-Wallis test for non-paired data (p<0.05). RESULTS: No protocol eliminated E. faecalis effectively. The S2, S3 and S4 samples were statistically different from the S1 samples in G1, G2, G3 and G4 (p<0.05). Statistical differences were observed in bacterial reduction between G1 and G2 and G1 and G3 after the intracanal medicament (S4) (p<0.05). CONCLUSION: The WOG + PUI + CH disinfection protocol showed higher percentages of bacterial reduction.

ABSTRACT

RESUMO Objetivo: descrever o significado atribuído por adolescentes a uma intervenção educativa sobre hanseníase mediada por jogos. Método: trata-se de uma pesquisa exploratória, de abordagem qualitativa, realizada com 30 adolescentes de uma escola pública de Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, Brasil. Aplicou-se uma intervenção de enfermagem com jogos adaptados à temática. Os dados foram coletados por meio de gravações cujas falas dos participantes durante a última etapa da intervenção educativa foram transcritas e analisadas segundo a técnica de análise de conteúdo temática. Resultados: os adolescentes expressaram alegria e satisfação por participarem da intervenção. Os elementos trazidos em suas falas enfatizam o aprendizado sobre os aspectos gerais da hanseníase adquirido dos jogos e a possibilidade de atuarem como agentes transformadores da realidade perante a hanseníase. Conclusão: tal intervenção demonstrou potencial para a construção coletiva de saberes sobre a hanseníase com vistas à desmistificação dos falsos conceitos e mitos atribuídos ao agravo. Espera-se que a partir deste estudo a intervenção possa ser aplicada em diferentes contextos com vistas à promoção da saúde e prevenção da hanseníase.


RESUMEN Objetivo: describir el significado atribuido por adolescentes a una intervención educativa sobre lepra mediada por juegos. Método: se trata de una investigación exploratoria, de abordaje cualitativo, realizada con 30 adolescentes de una escuela pública de Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, Brasil. Se aplicó una intervención de enfermería con juegos adaptados a la temática. Los datos fueron recolectados por medio de grabaciones cuyas hablas de los participantes durante la última fase de la intervención educativa fueron transcriptas y analizadas según la técnica de análisis de contenido temático. Resultados: los adolescentes expresaron alegría y satisfacción por participar de la intervención. Los elementos aportados por sus hablas enfatizan el aprendizaje sobre los aspectos generales de la lepra adquirido de los juegos y la posibilidad de actuar como agentes transformadores de la realidad ante la lepra. Conclusión: tal intervención demostró potencial para la construcción conjunta de saberes sobre la lepra con el fin de desmitificarlos falsos conceptos y mitos atribuidos al agravio. Se espera que a partir de este estudio la intervención pueda ser aplicada en diferentes contextos con vistas a la promoción de la saludy prevención de la lepra.


ABSTRACT Objective: To describe the meaning given by the adolescents to an educational intervention on leprosy mediated by games. Method: this is exploratory research with a qualitative approach, carried out with 30 adolescents from a public school in Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, Brazil. A nursing intervention was applied with games adapted to the theme. Data were collected by recordings of the participants' statements during the last stage of the educational intervention. The recordings were transcribed and analyzed according to the thematic content analysis technique. Results: the adolescents expressed joy and satisfaction for participating in the intervention. The elements brought up in their speeches emphasize learning about the general aspects of leprosy acquired from games and the possibility of acting as agents that transform reality when facing leprosy. Conclusion: This intervention showed the potential for the collective construction of knowledge about leprosy, demystifying the false concepts and myths attributed to the disease. We expect that from this study the intervention can be applied in different contexts, promoting health, and preventing leprosy.

Method: This is a case report from actions contained in a university extension project. Results: The workshop program was elaborated with duration of two hours, including five dynamic techniques adapted to the topic: adjective, face, traffic light, true or false and mosaic. It was verified that the construction of knowledge in light of the verbalization of the adolescents and the interest in working in the society they live through sharing this knowledge, especially those who were more involved in the process. Conclusion: It was concluded that the applied workshops enabled building knowledge and demystifying myths and stigmas socially constructed to adolescents, as well as allowed Nursing students to experience educational interventions on leprosy with adolescents.


RESUMEN Objetivo: Relatar la experiencia de docentes y discentes en la elaboración y en la aplicación de taller educativo sobre la enfermedad de Hansen con adolescentes. Método: Se trata de un relato de experiencia desde acciones contenidas en un proyecto de extensión universitaria. Resultados: El programa del taller fue elaborado con duración de dos horas, englobando cinco técnicas de dinámicas adaptadas a la temática: adjetivo, caras, semáforo, verdadero o falso y mosaico. Se certificó la construcción del conocimiento delante de la verbalización de los adolescentes y del interés en actuar en la sociedad en que viven por medio del compartir de ese conocimiento, principalmente de los que se mostraron más involucrados durante el proceso. Conclusión: Se concluye que los talleres aplicados posibilitaron la construcción del conocimiento y la desmitificación de mitos y estigmas socialmente construidos a los adolescentes, así como permitieron a los discentes de enfermería la vivencia en intervenciones educativas sobre enfermedad de Hansen con adolescentes.

Verificou-se a construção de conhecimento diante da verbalização dos adolescentes e do interesse em atuar na sociedade em que vivem por meio do compartilhamento desse conhecimento, principalmente dos que se mostraram mais envolvidos durante o processo. Conclusão: Conclui-se que as oficinas aplicadas possibilitaram a construção do conhecimento e a desmistificação de mitos e estigmas socialmente construídos aos adolescentes, assim como permitiram aos discentes de enfermagem a vivência em intervenções educativas sobre hanseníase com adolescentes.

ABSTRACT

Pertencente à família das leguminosas, a soja é a única fonte de proteína de origem vegetal que possui todos os aminoácidos essenciais, sendo considerada de alto valor biológico. Assim, destaca-se por ser um composto químico não hormonal, com organização estrutural análoga a dos hormônios estrogênicos humanos, que exercem, além de propriedades antioxidantes, função de moduladores seletivos nos receptores de estrógenos. Contudo, dentre as várias modificações que acontecem no corpo da mulher, salientam-se as sucedidas pela menopausa, que é uma fase naturalmente ocorrida nas mulheres decorrente da falência gonodal, ou seja, impossibilidade dos ovários em realizar suas funções de maneira satisfatória. Assim, esses metabólitos secundários, as isoflavonas, podem atenuar os fenômenos sintomáticos do climatério, que compreende a transição do período reprodutivo para o não reprodutivo, e diminuir os riscos de câncer hormônio-dependentes. Avaliando a importância da soja e das isoflavonas para a saúde, o presente trabalho tem como objetivo levantar dados na literatura sobre o uso das isoflavonas da soja para o alivio dos sintomas climatéricos. Esta revisão sugere que a ingestão regular de isoflavonas de soja em quantidades significativas pode reduzir, dentre outros sintomas, a frequência e a severidade das ondas de calor e desordens vasomotores. Entretanto, ainda não há evidências suficientes para recomendar, confiavelmente, o uso dos fitoestrogênios como substituto da Terapia Hormonal convencional. Portanto, são indispensáveis estudos complementares para comprovar o valor desta terapêutica alternativa como eficaz e segura na etapa da menopausa.


Soybeans belong to the legume family, and are the only source of vegetable protein containing all the essential amino acids, being considered of high biological value. Soybeans stand out as being a non-hormonal chemical compound, with structural organization analogous to the human estrogen hormones, being selective modulators of estrogen receptors besides its antioxidant properties. Among the various changes in women?s body, the menopause is a naturally occurring phase due to gonadal failure, i.e the failure of the ovaries to perform their role satisfactorily. The secondary metabolites, such as isoflavones, may relieve the symptoms of menopause phenomena, comprising the transition from the reproductive to non-reproductive period, including the risks of hormone-dependent cancer. Due to the importance of soy isoflavones on human health, the present study aims to collect data in the literature about the effect of soy isoflavones on the relief of climacteric symptoms. The review suggests that a regular intake of soy isoflavones, may reduce the frequency and severity of hot flashes and vasomotor disorders. However, there is not yet enough evidence of reliable use of phytoestrogens as a replacement for conventional Hormone Therapy. Therefore, additional studies are needed to prove the effectiveness and safety of this alternative therapy during the menopause stage.

ABSTRACT

A pesquisa teve por objetivo conhecer o núcleo central das representações sociais de pacientes e enfermeiras(os) acerca do significado de cuidar e tratar. Consiste em um estudo de natureza qualitativa, baseado na fundamentação teórico-metodológica da abordagem estrutural das representações sociais. Participaram do estudo 90 sujeitos. Aplicou-se um questionário utilizando-se a técnica de livre associação. Os dados foram analisados com o auxílio do software Evoc. Os resultados revelam que as representações sociais de pacientes e profissionais acerca dos conceitos de cuidar expressam uma relação ética, sensível, solidária, afetiva e compromissada com a vida humana amorosa. Entretanto, as representações sobre o tratar apontam para diferentes significados e distintas expectativas. Conclui-se que a discrepância entre essas representações é bastante preocupante e merece atenção especial da categoria. Tal discrepância denuncia que o serviço oferecido pelos profissionais não satisfaz à demanda e ao desejo dos pacientes.

Such discrepancy denounces that the service that the professionals have delivered does not meat the demand and desires of patients.


La investigación objetivó conocer el núcleo central de representaciones sociales de pacientes y enfermeras/os acerca del significado de cuidar y tratar. Estudio de naturaleza cualitativa, basado en fundamento teórico-metodológico del abordaje estructural de las representaciones sociales. Participaron 90 sujetos. Se aplicó un cuestionario usando técnica de libre asociación. Los datos se analizaron con ayuda del software Evoc. Los mismos revelaron que las representaciones sociales de pacientes y profesionales acerca de los conceptos de cuidar expresan una relación ética, sensible, solidaria, afectiva y comprometida con la vida humana amorosa. Mientras tanto, las representaciones sociales sobre el tratar apuntan hacia diferentes significados y distintas expectativas. Se concluye en que la discrepancia entre las representaciones es bastante preocupante y merece atención de la categoría. Tal discrepancia expresa que el servicio ofrecido por los profesionales no satisface la demanda y el deseo de los pacientes.

ABSTRACT

Qualitative study which purpose was to identify the central nucleus of the social representations about the concepts of taking care and treating under the vision of the nursing professionals. Participated in the study 45 subject. The data had been analyzed with the aid of Evoc software. The results reveal that the social representations of the professionals concerning the concepts of taking care and treating point to opposing actions and not complementary in the act of taking care. We conclude that this aspect can compromise the definition of the field of nursing practice and its professional identity. The challenge is in linking the treatment effect that care process and the contributions of the nursing cares in the health practices are irreplaceable.

Estudo qualitativo cujo objetivo foi identificar o núcleo central das representações sociais sobre os conceitos de cuidar e tratar dos profissionais de enfermagem. Participaram do estudo 45 sujeitos que responderam a um questionário de livre associação. Os dados foram analisados com o auxílio do software Evoc. Os resultados revelam que os conceitos de cuidar e tratar são interpretados como ações opostas e não complementares do ato de cuidar. Essas representações sociais comprometem a definição do campo de prática de enfermagem e sua identidade profissional. Conclui-se que o desafio consiste em aliar o tratamento ao processo de cuidar comprovando que o lugar e as contribuições dos cuidados de enfermagem nas práticas de saúde são insubstituíveis.

Estudio cualitativo con el objetivo de identificar el núcleo céntrico de las representaciones sociales sobre los conceptos de cuidar y tratar en la visión de los profesionales de enfermería. Participaron del estudio 45 sujetos. Los datos fueron analizados con el auxilio del software Evoc. Los resultados revelan que las representaciones sociales de los profesionales acerca de los conceptos de cuidar y tratar apuntan para acciones opuestas y no complementarias del acto de cuidar. Se concluye que ese aspecto puede comprometer la definición del campo de práctica de enfermería y su identidad profesional. El desafío consiste en demostrar que el lugar y las contribuciones de los cuidados de enfermería en las prácticas de salud son insustituibles.
