ABSTRACT

The data from an analysis of 104 patients who died in the acute stage of apoplexy are reported. A clinical anatomic and neuropsychological analysis as well as comparison with the foci of the lesions was made. The data confirmed once more the results of many authors--from Broco to recent days and showed that these areas formed the "nucleus" of the cerebral mechanism of the speech. Inspite of the fact that the speech as a function could not be localized in one area of the Central Nervous System, the so called "speech areas" of the dominant hemisphere play an important role in the functioning of the speech system--its "cerebral mechanisms" are set there.

ABSTRACT

Two hundred thirty two patients, aged over 50, were examined, that were consulted with a view to rectal hemorrhage. After the analysis of the results obtained the author established that the causes of the rectal hemorrhage were: Tumours of colon--in 40,5 per cent, 64 per cent of them with cancer of colon. Diseases of sphincter region--in 44,9 per cent (anal fissure in 12,5 per cent; erosive and ulcerous sphincteritis--in 16,9 per cent; internal and external hemorrhoids--in 15,5 per cent). Ulcerous and erosive colitis--in 10,6 per cent, etc. The group of the sixth decade was underlined to be most affected--in 48,5 per cent. The localization of the tumours from the anorectal line up to 30 cm--is in 84 per cent and over 30 cm--in 16%. It is stressed that the presence of blood in feces, demands, without delay, the elucidation of the etiology of the hemorrhage.

ABSTRACT

The authors studied the bacterial intestinal microflora (BIMF) according to Henel method in 28 patients with constipation syndrome. The following was found: --Normal ratio of BIMF in one patient; --Reduced percentage participation of anaerobic lactobacteria in 18 patients; --Increased number of Escherichia coli in 3 patients; --Proteus was over 100 000 in 1.0 feces in 6 patients or in 27 out of 28 patients dysbiosis was found. The authors explained the disturbances of the normal BIMF with the retention of feces in the large intestine, providing conditions for mass bacterial proliferation.

ABSTRACT

An apparatus is constructed for the determination of the rectosigmoid transition tonus-rectosigmoid tonometer. There pressure will be read in Torr. The investigation of the rectosigmoid tonus of 75 healthy subjects established that it ranges between 15-30 Torr. Pathologically changed RST was established in 37-elevated in 12 patients and reduced in 21 and zero in 4-during the tonus determination of 100 patients with different forms of chronic colitis. The results from the rectosigmoid tonometry must be interpreted together with the rest of the indices (AT, size of rectal folds, etc).
