ABSTRACT

The authors made an analysis of anomalies of the bile ducts with special reference to anatomical peculiarities and iatrogenic lesions of the bile ducts. The anomalies of bile ducts were found in 2.07% of 676 patients operated on for complicated cholelithiasis. Primary operative interventions and reoperations in the patients were completed with the formation of the constriction-biliodigestive anastomoses of different levels having antireflux functions. The authors describe the operation technique and results of the treatment of bile duct obstruction.

ABSTRACT

The article presents results of using hemoperfusion through the swine spleen and infusions of the xenosplenic perfusate in treatment of purulent peritonitis and various suppurative complications in 109 patients. A positive effect was noted (20% reduction of lethality, 1.5-3.5 times shorter period of treatment).

ABSTRACT

The functional state of the hypophyseal-gonadal system was investigated in 160 males suffering from Types I and II diabetes mellitus. There were no correlations revealed in the incidence and severity of sexual dysfunction according to the patients' ages, diabetes type and duration. The sexual disturbances correlated with the severity of diabetic microangiopathy (r = +0.48) and a state of diabetic compensation (r = +0.36). The development and progression of diabetic nephropathy was accompanied by a rise of blood luteinizing and follicle-stimulating hormones and a drop of testosterone, estrogen-androgen imbalance.

ABSTRACT

Treatment of 265 patients with mechanical jaundice is analyzed. From the first day all the patients were given the intensive infusion treatment in order to reduce intoxication, hepatic insufficiency and to prepare for operation. In 88 patients the complex of diagnostic and curative measures included sorption methods (hemosorption and lymphosorption). It allowed to make the exact diagnosis within the first 2-3 days, to determine the level of biliary block, intoxication degree and severity of hepatic insufficiency. The patients were prepared for operation within 7 days which gave better results and made the treatment 10-12 days shorter.
