ABSTRACT

The article characterizes the mortality rates of nodular and mixed euthyroid goiter in the Ukraine Republic and discusses the results of surgical treatment of 681 patients with various forms of goiter. In view of the double increase of the number of cases of thyroid carcinoma in the last 4 years, the authors suggest resecting the thyroid gland more extensively than in the previously conducted economical resections. Radioimmunological study of the thyroid hormones and thyrotropin in dynamics showed activation of hypophyseal +thyrotropic function after the operation. The authors, therefore, recommend using thyroidin without fail. Postoperative recurrences-1.5%, stable hypothyroidism-1.8%.

ABSTRACT

The scintigraphic semeiotics was investigated of involvement of osteoarticular system in rheumatoid polyarthritis in 186 patients (79 of them suffered of rheumatoid arthritis, 62 of systemic lupus erythematosus, 34 of systemic scleroderma, 11 of dermatomyositis). Roentgenological examination was supplemented by consecutive local scintigraphy of axial skeleton and peripheral joint by of gamma rays with labeled 99mTc phosphate complexes. Isoactive zones with subsequent quantitative evaluation of the information were obtained as a result of computerized processing of the scintigraphic images of the joints. The results were compared with those obtained in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. It was established that inspite of the similarity of the scintigraphic manifestations, each of them has its regularities due to differences of the pathomorphological processes in the joints.

ABSTRACT

Encephaloangioscintigraphy performed in 30 patients with a closed craniocerebral trauma has shown simultaneous inhibition of the venous cerebral blood flow both in the vascular regions of the cerebral hemispheres and in the lateral sinuses indicating the common pathogenesis of disorders of the venous circulation in these parts of the circulatory bed. The most informative characteristic feature of the venous outflow is a period of RP half-life, determined on a radiocirculogram of the brain. The diagnostic efficacy of the above method in the detection of disorders of the venous circulation of the brain in some vascular regions provides an opportunity for a purpose-oriented use of adequate methods of reflexotherapy.

ABSTRACT

Function of lymphocytes as effector cells of natural cytotoxicity in chronic lympholeukemia was investigated using radiometric and morphological methods. The effectiveness of these methods was compared. A significant decrease in NKC activity in B-cell type of chronic lympholeukemia was detected. A high degree of positive correlation between radiometry and morphology findings was revealed. The radionuclide (51Cr) method of investigation of NKC activity of lymphocytes was shown to have more advantages over the alternative morphological method in terms of practicability, accuracy and objectiveness.

ABSTRACT

The results of radiologic investigation in 47 patients admitted to the clinic for pancreatic cancer were compared with the findings of the performed operative intervention. Visualization of the pancreas with 75 Selenomethionine was performed on the gamma-camera FO-GAMMA-IV (USA). A number of differential diagnostic signs of the pancreatic pathology was revealed, dependence between the character and degree of pancreatic changes on a scintigram, and volume of the operative intervention performed was noted. A variant of computerized processing of scintigrams with regard to the activity of the administered radiopharmaceutical preparation is suggested.

ABSTRACT

Thirty-five males (age: 18-45 years) suffering of chronic bronchitis were examined. The patients showed a reduced level of blood serum testosterone, increased level of luteinizing hormone in males with chronic obstructive bronchitis. The level of luteinizing hormone in males with atrophic bronchitis does not exceed the value in the control group.

ABSTRACT

The author described the results of clinical testing of a system CAOPH-01 designed for automated collection, storage and processing of data on radionuclide investigations. He gave examples of automated processing of RCG and the results of positive scintigraphy of tumors of different sites using 67Ga-citrate and 99mTc-pertechnetate in statistical and dynamic investigations. Short-comings and ways for updating 4 the system during its serial production were pointed out. The introduction of the system into clinical practice on a wide scale was shown to hold promise.

ABSTRACT

The paper is concerned with an analysis of the results of positive scintigraphy and thermography obtained from an investigation of 84 laryngeal and laryngopharyngeal cancer patients. The diagnostic accuracy of positive scintigraphy (38 patients) was 89.5%, that of thermography--78.9%, of both methods--93.3%. The authors described methodological aspects of the use of both methods and worked out indications for their use in combined diagnosis of laryngeal cancer: topical and differential diagnosis of malignant and benign laryngeal lesions, definition of a degree of tumor spreading (visualization of metastases to the lymph nodes), determination of the presence of laryngeal cancer recurrences and their differential diagnosis with postradiation edemas.

ABSTRACT

The authors presented the results of a clinical use of a new radiocardioanalyzer RKA 3-01 (manufactured in the USSR) providing for automated measurements and computations of indices of the central hemodynamics during studies using a method of dilution of radioactive nuclides. The main technical potentialities of the device designed on the basis of microprocessor technology, were described. The authors also provided the results of automated computation of the circulating blood volume and the main hemodynamic indices in a group of patients. Values of the hemodynamic indices were shown to correspond to actual ones and comparable to control ones and clinical evidence. The comparison of automated processing with a manual method of calculation indicated a significant coincidence of index values. The clinical use of the radiocardioanalyzer RKA 3-01 for automated assessment of the indices of the cardiovascular system was shown to hold promise among various groups of patients.

ABSTRACT

The article describes results of using dynamic hepatobiliary scintigraphy in 43 young patients with chronic calculous cholecystitis. High informative value of the method for diagnosis of morpho-functional changes in the organs of the hepatobiliary system is shown, hyperbilirubinemia included. More than in half of the patients alterations of the absorptive-excretory functions of the liver and motor function of the gallbladder were revealed. Their direct relationship with the duration of the disease and degree of the inflammatory process in the biliary tract is established.
