ABSTRACT

Aim of the study was to investigate function of endothelium and utero feto placental blood flow in pregnant women with various degree of arterial hypertension as well as effect of nifedipine SR/GITS and bisoprolol on arterial pressure level, brachial artery endothelium dependent vasodilation (EDVD), level of von Willebrand factor (FW) and resistance index, characterizing the state of utero feto placental blood flow. Examination and treatment for 4 weeks with nifedipine SR/GITS and bisoprolol (more often in combination) was carried out in 47 pregnant women with stage II hypertension during trimester II of gestation. At baseline we found significant lowering of EDVD progressing with elevation of degree of hypertension, elevation of FW level and resistance index in umbilical arteries. In dynamics at the background of treatment parallel with normalization of arterial pressure we noted significant improvement of endothelial function manifested by elevation of EDVD and lowering of FW level, as well as elevation of blood flow in arteries of umbilical cord.

ABSTRACT

A recombinant plasmid has been selected from the genomic library of Rhodobacter sphaeroides that restores the properties of the wild type strain in the mutant Drn121. The latter possesses the derepressed synthesis of nitrogenase when grown in the light, inability of nitrogen fixation in the dark and growth on potassium nitrate as a single source of nitrogen, disruption of ammonium ions and methylamine transportation, decreased activity of glutamine synthetase. The gene complementing the drn121 mutation is localized within the EcoRI-HindIII fragment of Rhodobacter sphaeroides chromosome 2.25 kb in size. Analysis of the fragment nucleotide sequence has revealed the fragments with a high level of homology to regulatory genes ntrB (the 3'-end) and ntrC of Rhodobacter capsulatus. The plasmid pRCN102, containing the nifR3-ntrB-ntrC operon of Rhodobacter capsulatus, is able to complement the drn121 mutation while its derivatives having inactivated ntrN or ntrC genes are not. Hence, in Rhodobacter sphaeroides mutant Drn121 the mutation is localized in ntrC gene the product of which is involved not only in nitrogen fixation but also in nitrogen metabolism on the whole.

ABSTRACT

The spontaneous and induced frequencies of visible mutations by N-nitroso-N-ethylurea in male cells of Drosophila melanogaster genetically unstable mutator strain have been investigated. The spontaneous and induced by N-nitroso-N-ethylurea genetic instability in mutator strain have similar manifestation, that evidently testifies the existence of general mechanisms of the appearance of unstable mutations, namely the transpositions of the mobile genetic elements.

ABSTRACT

Changes in the values of the immune status during UV autohemotherapy were studied in 22 patients with surgical endotoxicosis of various genesis. Maximum tension of immunogenesis was found in all patients. The time course of changes in the general pool of rosette-forming and separate populations of neutrophils, as well as in the index of immunocompetent cell ratios are evidence of the high informativeness of these tests in determining the severity of the immune system dysfunctions.

ABSTRACT

Osmolarity and its constituents were followed up during the treatment course in 43 patients with tuberculosis of the urinary system and in 14 controls. The authors confirmed the relation of the blood and urinary osmolarity to the stage of chronic renal failure (CRF). CRF aggravation was evidenced by the development of hypo-osmolarity in the urine and a progressing decrease in the ratio coefficient between the osmolarity in the urine and in the plasma. Stability of plasma hyperosmolarity continued to be more than 340 mosmol/kg H2O and a decrease in the aforementioned coefficient to less than 1 despite the treatment evidenced the terminal stage of CRF and unfavourable outcome of surgical intervention.

ABSTRACT

Spontaneous male recombination in mei-9LI stock of Drosophila melanogaster having defect in excision repair was shown to take place at early premeiotic stage. Male recombination was registered at all stages of gametogenesis, under the action of acceleration (6-8 g). The frequencies of male recombination at pre- and postmeiotic stages of gametogenesis increased significantly under the effect of space flight factors.

ABSTRACT

The distribution area of Aedes togoi (Theob.) stretches along the coast of the Pacific embracing the Indo-Malayan and Holarctic faunistic provinces. In the Indo-Chinese subregion Ae. togoi penetrates the Indo-Chinese province and in the Malayan subregion into the Soenda province. Northwards this species inhabits the coastal regions of Holarctic, namely, these of Chinese-Korean and Central-Japanese provinces in Chinese-Himalayan subregions. The habitat of Ae. togoi in western Canada is obviously cut off from the principal distribution area of the species and should be regarded as a secondary penetration of the species into a new territory due to casual delivery. In the USSR Ae. togoi is distributed in South Primorje, northwards along the coast to the settlement of Terney, occupies the southern half of Sakhalin and the southern Kuril Islands.

ABSTRACT

The increase of spontaneous and induced frequencies in mature sperm by N-nitroso-N-ethylurea visible mutation in the stock mei-9(11) of Drosophila melanogaster blocking the excision reparation has been shown. It is suggested that the mutation mei-9(11) blocks the correct way of reparation that is shown in mutator effect of this mutation.

ABSTRACT

The mutagenic action of 1,4-bis-diazoacetylbutane was studied. No dominant lethals induced by this mutagen were detected. Up to 3.61% recessive lethal mutations were observed by the Muller-5 test. Visible mutations were detected, the majority of them having been obtained in the second generation. Four visible mutations from 11 observed concerned the eye shape and belonged to the same locus "Lobe" and 3 mutations--to the "chocolate" one. This effect might be due to the loci-specific action of the 1,4-bis-diazoacetylbutane. Three cases of replicating instability, with the stabilization of either mutant or normal state of the gene were registered. Strong morphogenic action of this mutagen has been revealed.

ABSTRACT

Two types of unstable visible mutations induced by ethylnitrosourea and ethylmethanesulfonate were detected and studied. In cases of replicating instability, mutations newly emerging in the offspring of a single male were allelic. They were located either in a single site or in different sites of the gene. Substitution of autosomes in unstable lines was followed by stabilization of both normal and mutant phenotype in two cases of replicating instability.

ABSTRACT

Newly appearing hereditary traits were observed in several generations of Drosophila melanogaster: changes in eye and body colour, wing shape, number and shape of chaetae. The results obtained may be interpreted as the evidence for the realization of potential changes induced by NEU and EMS into visible mutations during 1-4th generations. X-irradiation (at a dose of 1000 r) of males from the first generation did not affect the realization of long-living potential changes induced by NEU.
