ABSTRACT

We've studied morphofunctional peculiarities of 47 young sportsmen-rovers. 25.6% of the young sportsmen suffered from the 1st degree arterial hypertension and 8.5% had high--normal blood pressure. Profound clinical and dynamic checkup proved that in the group of rovers with high blood pressure the indices of arterial blood pressure compared to those of the group of sportsmen having normal blood pressure there is certain enlargement of ventriculus sinister cordis myocardium mass and deterioration of functional reserve.

ABSTRACT

Seventy-seven athletes with different manifestations of the cardiac connective tissue dysplasia (CCTD) syndrome (mitral prolapse (MP), anomalously located chordae (ALC) of the left ventricle and/or their combination) and 23 athletes without signs of CCTD syndrome were examined. The purpose of the study was to determine the specific features of the phenotypic picture, ECG data, and physical fitness in athletes with the manifestations of CCTD syndrome. The characteristic features of anthropometric data (higher heights and decreased body mass index), a larger number of the phenotypic signs of CCTD, the specific features of ECG, and lower parameters of physical fitness and aerobic capacities in the groups of MP, ALC, and/or their combination were identified; the impact of MP and ALC on these parameters was evaluated.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To evaluate efficacy of combined use of moderate exercise and nicotinic acid drug enduracin in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) with moderate dyslipidemia (DE). MATERIAL AND METHODS: The effects of exercise therapy alone, enduracin alone and their combination on physical performance (PP), hemodynamics, blood lipid spectrum and clinical course of CHD were studied in 93 CHD patients with moderate DE. The results were evaluated clinically after 1-year treatment. RESULTS: Combined used of exercise and enduracin in CHD patients showed its efficacy manifesting in improvement of PP, hemodynamics at rest and exercise test, left ventricular systolic function, clinical course, reduction of DE. Enduracin + exercise appeared more efficient than their use in monotherapy. Enduracin monotherapy had a positive action on PP, arterial pressure and anginal attacks frequency. CONCLUSION: Enduracin is recommended as monotherapy and in combination with moderate exercise in outpatient rehabilitation and secondary prophylaxis of CHD patients with moderate dyslipidemia and angina pectoris to relieve myocardial ischemia under exercise, to raise PP, improve lipid composition of blood and prevent maladaptive left ventricular remodeling.

ABSTRACT

The efficiency of autogenic training (AT) was assessed by analyzing the follow-up data on the status of 110 hypertensive patients (54 in the study, and 56 patients in the control group) over six months. AT helped to improve their psychological status and achieve a higher antihypertensive effect and better hemodynamic parameters (echocardiography) with lower doses of hypotensive drugs. The effect of AT was most prominent in patients with labile hypertension. The employment of AT in hypertension characterized by recurrent crises brought about either a reduction in their frequency or their total elimination in the majority of patients.

ABSTRACT

This paper is devoted to the diagnosis of asymmetrical hypertrophy of the ventricular septum in patients with hypertensive disease with the aid of echocardiography. Asymmetrical hypertrophy of the ventricular septum comprised 4-5% of cases. The contractile function of the myocardium in this group of patients remains normal for a long time, while the dilatation is affected. The nitroglycerin test permits to elicit functional signs of obstruction to the outflow tract of the left ventricle in patients with asymmetrical hypertrophy of the ventricular septum.

ABSTRACT

Among 1048 patients with essential hypertension undergoing echocardiographic investigation during 1974-1980, 51 patients (4.9%) were found to have asymmetric hypertrophy of the interventricular septum. Eleven of those patients underwent a repeated echocardiography 3-5 years later. Asymmetric disproportionate hypertrophy of the interventricular septum in patients with essential hypertension was found to be one of the variants of concentric hypertrophy formation, and in a few cases--a sign of the development of idiopathic hypertrophic subaortal stenosis in arterial hypertension.
