ABSTRACT

The role of emotions is crucial in everyday life and the experiences of healthcare cooperators, specifically in the context of international cooperation. Although the social and healthcare sciences have begun to explore emotions in this field, their study is still relatively young. A theoretical review is conducted from an interdisciplinary perspective, encompassing both Health Sciences and Social Sciences. This mixed approach provides a more comprehensive understanding of the complex relationship between emotions and international cooperation. In addition to presenting a theoretical framework, various methodological approaches are reviewed, from traditional techniques analysing emotional discourses and expressions to innovative proposals such as the Felt, Expressed, and Identified emotions (FEI) Model, which addresses emotional complexity. This work contributes to the development of the field, offering a theoretical and analytical foundation for future studies in this multidimensional area.(AU)

ABSTRACT

In this article, we carry out a review of disgust in healthcare contexts (healthcare staff and patients), a topic not studied enough yet. To this end, we first accomplish a brief presentation of disgust biological and socio-moral elements, which allow us to understand the role of disgust in patients' rejection of their own wounds and self-healing. Disgust can lead patients to refuse self-care treatments after surgery or refuse to carry out diagnostic tests. On the other hand, health professionals are not exempt from feeling disgust because they are in con-tact with factors that cause it, which may conflict with professional ethics and the duty of care. In addition, we present the preliminary results of a pilot study in which we show what causes dis-gust in doctors and nurses and how they deal with it. The results point to compensation strategies that could affect the quality of care. In this sense, it is necessary to highlight the differences between the factors that cause disgust, since on many occasions they are not due to the disease, but to the lack of hygiene on patient's side. In short, due to disgust, the patients could refuse to heal their wounds on their own and due to this same emotion doctors may feel discomfort in at-tending the patients

ABSTRACT

In recent decades, European countries have experienced, to varying degrees, adjustment processes of their social policies which, at the same time, should respond to the demands of disadvantaged groups in an increasingly adverse social context. Inevitably, social and health sciences have shown its concern about the way the shaping of these policies affects people who depend on external support and who are unable to manage their lives autonomously. We consider interesting to reflect on the effects and consequences of social transformations underway, supported by the results of a research, through a qualitative methodology based on in-depth interviews with key informants of social policy in four European countries (Germany, Spain, Finland and Sweden). The mail goal was to study the speeches of interviewees directly involved in these problems, social partners and experts who have a particular view of social problems. The results indicate new challenges for existing social welfare systems
