ABSTRACT

We treated 27 patients suffering from periodontitis with 750 mg/d oxytetracycline over a fortnight and compared them with a control group of 25 patients who received only a placebo. The selection of patients followed certain criteria. For controlling of the success of treatment, we developed a simple model of clinical and microscopical parameters. A significant difference between both groups could be demonstrated six months after starting the treatment.

ABSTRACT

31 renal transplant patients with Cyclosporin-A-Medication were dental discussed. Half of the patients showed gingival hyperplasia in the anterior region of the maxilla after different time of medication. A relation between gingival hyperplasia, age and sex could'nt be seen. Two stomatitis were presented. The oral hygiene and the parodontal statement before the transplantation influenced the formation of gingival hyperplasia. At time it seems, that Nifedipin has no influence on the formation of gingival hyperplasia. We recommend a extensive research with a long list of patients. A patient with a voluminous hyperplasia was discussed.

ABSTRACT

The level of interleukin 1 in gingival fluid is determined in 17 volunteers with healthy gingiva and in 58 patients with gingivitis of different severity. Continously increased levels of local IL 1 are found in connection with increased plaque accumulation in the dentogingival sites and with exacerbating gingival inflammation. The relevance of IL 1 in gingival fluid as a sensitive indicator of plaque-associated gingivitis is discussed.

ABSTRACT

During a clinical investigation including 281 patients we analysed the association between bruxism and chronical benign headache. A correlations having practical relevance could be shown, especially for patients with headache similar in type to the classical tension headache.

ABSTRACT

In 32 patients with plaque associated gingivitis the effect of initial treatment for 2 respectively 4 weeks on the gingival index (GI) and the interleukin 1 (IL 1) content in the gingival sulcus fluid (SSF) was investigated. After successful clinical treatment a decrease of the IL 1 level was found. The importance of the IL 1 content of the gingival sulcus fluid as a sensitive parameter for therapy control is discussed.

ABSTRACT

By the making of training models for the periodontal education, it is possible not only to raise diagnostic parameters but also to train the handling of hand instruments as well as the accomplishment of surgical measures. The use of this models provides a prerequisite for a good professional education. Thereby, the level of education is raised markedly. Thus, this practice is recommended for other universities.

ABSTRACT

In a clinical study the granulocytopenic phases in patients with acute leukemia are analysed and the importance of dental treatment accentuate. The results show that the directed dental care leads to a quantitative and qualitative decrease of the inflammatory alterations in the oral cavity.

ABSTRACT

Over a period of 14 days we have treated 27 after special criterious selected patients with 250 mg OTC three times/day. We compared these results with those of 25 patients--of a placebo-group. The analysis included clinical and microbiological parameters. It could be pointed out, that the OTC-therapy results in a significant improvement of the examined parameters stile 6 months after starting with the therapy.

ABSTRACT

With the aid of the measurements of tooth mobility the treatment success of grinding was evaluated in 208 upper incisors of 54 patients, and the results were set into correlation with different factors. The results show that decreased tooth mobility following grinding was observed both in healthy periodontium and in diseased periodontium.

ABSTRACT

A long-term investigation of 20 juvenile patients indicated a great seasonal and interdiurnal variation of the gingival temperature, which had a trend to a high interindividual correlation. The absolute individual differences was upto 2 degrees C. The lower jaw had a higher temperature than the upper jaw. The temperature of the right and left sides of the jaw differed from each other. The calculation of a standard temperature is only useful, when it is related to the individual sublingual temperature.
