ABSTRACT

Background: ">ki67 may be used as a proliferative index in addition to estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) negative status. p53 gene expression is a well-known biomarker in breast cancer and its role in predicting clinical outcome remains unclear. The current study aimed to determine the relationship between p53 gene mutation and ki67 expression, their clinical characteristics, and overall survival (OS), and to differentiate the significance of p53 and ki67 as the prognostic value in breast cancer patients. Methods: ">In this study, 135 patients were enrolled in the study from December 2015 to May 2017. Medical records for all patients were reviewed prospectively. The inclusion criteria included age more than 18 years with histologically proven breast cancer and willingness to be enrolled in p53 genetic study. Exclusion criteria included dual malignancy, male breast cancer, with a loss to follow-up during the study. Results: ">The mean survival of patients with ki67 ≤20 index was 42.7 months (95% confidence interval [CI] 38.7-46.7) and 129 months (95% CI 101.3-157.2) in patients with ki67 >20. The mean OS was 145 months (95% CI 105.6-185.5) in the p53 wild-type group and 106 months (95% CI 78.0-133.0) in the p53 mutated group, as illustrated. Conclusion: ">Our results indicated that p53 mutational status and high ki67 might have an essential impact on overall survival, with p53 mutated patients having a poorer outcome than p53 wild type patients.

ABSTRACT

Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) has a good prognosis, while metastatic tumors have aggressive behavior. Immunotherapy has become a standard line of treatment in metastatic cancers; pembrolizumab has shown promising results and improved quality of life in recurrent and metastatic cancers. We report a case of recurrent SCC of the skin with extensive disease and a known case of human immunodeficiency virus. He completed standard lines of treatment and currently on immunotherapy. After 3 cycles of immunotherapy plus chemotherapy, he got a complete metabolic response. Our experience showed palliative benefits and increased quality of life.

ABSTRACT

The current study focuses on non-equilibrium molecular dynamics (NEMD) simulations to investigate the slip properties of water flowing over different nanostructured surfaces. A simulation protocol is developed that applies constant shear stress throughout the fluid before measuring the slip length. Using pseudo-data, the reliability of this protocol in terms of both accuracy and noise of the results for high-slip and multiphase systems is demonstrated. In contrast to the NEMD techniques available in the literature, the protocol also enables a convenient way to compare the slip lengths of different surface coatings. The fluid slip lengths of surface coatings comprising carbon nanotubes on platinum are predicted using the proposed protocol with nitrogen gas trapped in the interstitial gaps. The role of these gas pockets in determining surface slip properties is investigated. The NEMD results from the proposed model compare well with a macroscopic theoretical model for nano-patterned surfaces. Finally, it is concluded that entrapped gas within nanostructures may offer significant drag reduction only if the gas surface coverage is above 95%.

ABSTRACT

Objective: We present a narrative review of pediatric catatonia and a case report illustrating the complexity of management of psychosis in a child with catatonia. Method: The literature search used the text terms pediatric, catatonia, and antipsychotics and the search engines PubMed and EBSCO. All references from peer-reviewed journals were reviewed for treatment strategies specific to management in children who are also psychotic. Findings. This 8-year-old girl presented with psychotic symptoms which were initially treated with antipsychotics and evolved into life-threatening catatonia that was eventually stabilized with a total daily dose of 46 mg of lorazepam. Lower doses led to recurrence. Once catatonia improved, she tolerated combined benzodiazepine and antipsychotic treatment. Long-term maintenance over 5 years required maintenance treatment with both benzodiazepines and antipsychotics to prevent relapse. Conclusions: The extraordinary doses of benzodiazepines found to be optimal for management of catatonia in this child led to improved alertness and orientation, without evident sedation. Catatonia did not recur with later management of psychosis using neuroleptics when added to lorazepam. The current literature on pediatric catatonia does not provide guidance on dose maintenance or when and if to rechallenge with antipsychotics.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Comorbid anxiety is common among buprenorphine patients and may lead to poorer outcomes. This study aimed to examine the prevalence and impact of anxiety severity, measured by the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) form Y-1 & Y2 scale, on treatment outcomes (retention and phase advancement) among outpatient buprenorphine-treated patients. METHODS: A retrospective chart review of 94 patients admitted to an outpatient buprenorphine treatment program was conducted. Patients were dichotomized into high and low severity groups based upon an STAI State Anxiety (S-Anxiety) and STAI Trait Anxiety (T-Anxiety) score ≥60 and <60, respectively. Associations of anxiety severity on successful phase advancement and retention during the first 90 days of treatment were assessed. RESULTS: Twenty-one of 94 (22%) participants reported high S-Anxiety and had a significantly greater likelihood of phase advancement (OR = 12.80, 95% CI = [1.19, 136.71]) than those with low S-Anxiety. No significant associations were found between either S-Anxiety or T-Anxiety and treatment retention. Current alcohol use and UDS negative test results for THC or amphetamines were each associated with phase advancement. THC negative UDS test results were associated with 90-day treatment retention. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: Contrary to prior reports, buprenorphine patients with higher state anxiety severity demonstrated similar retention and more rapid phase advancement than those with lower state anxiety severity. SCIENTIFIC SIGNIFICANCE: To our knowledge, this is the first study to quantify current anxiety severity using the STAI scale and evaluate its impact on treatment outcomes among buprenorphine-treated patients.

ABSTRACT

Effective means of accurately identifying problematic opioid prescribing are needed. Using an iterative approach with the Arkansas State Medical Board Pain Subcommittee, we modified existing opioid prescriber criteria to create seven metrics to be deployed in Arkansas. These included metrics of dose and days' supply, concomitant use of opioid and benzodiazepines, solid dosage units, and numbers of opioid patients and certain opioid prescriptions. Two of these metrics (average MME daily dose per prescription and total oxycodone 30 mg or hydromorphone prescriptions) were weighted by 2, creating a maximum score of 9 of which each prescriber could receive. Twenty prescribers with a score of 7 or greater were identified and referred to the Arkansas State Medical Board Pain Subcommittee for review and subsequent investigation if deemed necessary. Of those 20 prescribers, four were previously investigated and under disciplinary action, and three were under current investigation for misconduct related to prescribing practices. Five prescribers had new investigations opened due to the findings from the metrics, and disciplinary action was taken. Therefore, 12 of the 20 prescribers referred to the Arkansas State Medical Board were deemed worthy of investigation and disciplinary action. The Arkansas opioid prescriber metrics are able to accurately identify prescribers with potentially problematic opioid prescribing.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Afatinib has been shown as a suitable option for the treatment of epidermal growth factor receptor mutation-positive (EGFRm+) non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in randomized controlled trials. However, patients treated in real-world clinical practice, including elderly patients, and those with brain metastases or poor Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance statuses, are often excluded from these studies. OBJECTIVE: To report the final results, with a particular focus on patients enrolled in China, from a prospective phase IIIb, "near real-world" study of afatinib in tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI)-naïve Asian patients with EGFRm+ NSCLC. PATIENTS AND METHODS: NCT01953913 was conducted at 34 centers across Asia. Entry criteria were broad to reflect real-world settings. Patients received afatinib 40 mg/day until tumor progression, lack of clinical benefit, or poor tolerability. Assessments included safety, time to symptomatic progression (TTSP), and progression-free survival (PFS). RESULTS: 541 patients were treated, of whom 412 were enrolled in China. Dose reductions were implemented in 28.7% of patients overall, and 17.7% of patients from China. Safety findings were consistent with phase III studies of afatinib. Median TTSP in all patients was 14.0 months (95% CI 12.9-15.9), and median PFS was 12.1 months (95% CI 11.0-13.6). Median TTSP (13.8 months, 95% CI 12.7-16.1) and PFS (11.4 months, 95% CI 10.9-13.7) were similar in patients from China to the overall population. Among patients from China who had dose reductions, TTSP was numerically longer than in those who did not (16.4 vs. 13.8 months; P = 0.0703), while PFS was significantly longer (13.9 vs. 11.1 months; P = 0.0275). Among patients from China with brain metastases, TTSP was numerically shorter than in those without (11.0 vs. 14.4 months; P = 0.0869), whereas PFS was significantly shorter (9.2 vs. 12.9 months; P = 0.0075). CONCLUSIONS: Safety data for afatinib when used in a "near real-world" setting in patients with EGFRm+ NSCLC was consistent with the known safety profile of afatinib. Supporting efficacy data of afatinib were provided in all patients, and in those enrolled in China. Tolerability-guided afatinib dose reduction allowed patients to remain on treatment and continue to experience clinical benefit. BACKGROUND: Tuberculosis (TB) prevalence surveys add to the active case detection in the community level burden of TB both national and regional levels. The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of bacteriologically confirmed pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) in the community. METHODS: Household community-based tuberculosis disease survey was conducted targeting 69054 population from 43 villages of 5 blocks in Tiruvallure district adopting cluster sampling methodology of ≥15 years old adult rural population of South India during 2015-2018. All eligible individuals with suspected symptoms of PTB were screened with chest X-ray. Two sputum specimens (one spot and the other early morning sample) were collected for M.tb smear and culture examination. Conversely demographical, smoking and alcohol drinking habits information were also collected to explore the risk factor. Stepwise logistic regression was employed to associate risk factors for PTB. RESULTS: A total of 62494 were screened among 69054 eligible population, of whom 6340 were eligible for sputum specimen collection. Sputum for M.tb smear and culture examination were collected in 93% of participants. The derived prevalence of PTB was 307/100000 population (smear-positive 130; culture positive 277). As expected that PTB has decreased substantially compared to preceding surveys and it showed that older age, male, low BMI, diabetes, earlier history of TB and alcohol users were significantly associated (p < .0001) with an increased risk of developing PTB. CONCLUSION: Upshot of the active survey has established a reduction in the prevalence of PTB in the rural area which can be accredited to better programmatic implementation and success of the National TB Control Programme in this district. It also has highlighted the need for risk reduction interventions accelerate faster elimination of TB.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Afatinib is approved for first-line treatment of patients with epidermal growth factor receptor mutation-positive (EGFRm+) non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Here, we report findings from a combined analysis of three phase IIIb studies of afatinib in EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI)-naïve patients. METHODS: EGFR-TKI-naïve patients with EGFRm+ NSCLC received afatinib 40 mg/day. Dose reductions were permitted for adverse events (AEs). Efficacy endpoints included progression-free survival (PFS), time to symptomatic progression (TTSP), and tumor response. Subgroup analyses were performed by Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status (ECOG PS), presence of brain metastasis, age and common/uncommon EGFR mutations (plus other factors). RESULTS: 1108 patients were treated. Median age was 61 years (range, 25-89); 19.2% had baseline brain metastases, 4.4% had ECOG PS ≥2, and 17.9% had tumors harboring uncommon mutations. Treatment-related AEs (TRAEs) were reported in 97.2%, most commonly diarrhea and rash. 41.6% had AEs leading to dose reduction. Median PFS was 13.0 months [95% confidence interval (CI): 12.0-13.8]; median TTSP was 14.8 months (95% CI: 13.9-16.1). Objective response rate (ORR) was 55.0%. Age, presence of baseline brain metastases, major (G719X, L861Q, S768I) or compound uncommon mutations had little/no effect on PFS, TTSP, or ORR, while outcomes were poorer in patients with ECOG PS 2 or exon 20 insertion/T790M mutations. CONCLUSIONS: Afatinib was tolerable with no new safety signals. Afatinib demonstrated encouraging efficacy in a broad patient population, including those with brain metastases or uncommon EGFR mutations.

The new pandemic COVID-19 is now recognised as a multisystem disease. Variety of skin lesions have been reported in 0.2-20.4% of cases of COVID-19. In some cases of COVID-19, skin lesions have been reported as the initial or the only manifestation. We are reporting a case of bilateral palmar erythema as the sole manifestation of COVID-19 in a 37-year-old female who had a family history of COVID-19 like illness and was later found positive for anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies.

BACKGROUND: Fabry disease (FD) is a genetic disorder caused by defective α-galactosidase-A enzyme due to mutations in the GLA gene. A reliable diagnosis in classical FD males can be made by measuring the enzyme activity while diagnosing classical FD females and non-classical FD patients requires mutation analysis. Plasma globotriaosylsphingosine (Lyso-Gb3) has progressively gained more importance as a diagnostic biomarker for FD in recent years. Having another biomarker to complement plasma Lyso-Gb3 will increase the diagnostic accuracy in the era of mass screening, and also precision medicine. This study aims to highlight the clinical utility of the total concentration of urinary Lyso-Gb3 plus its analogues in diagnosing FD. METHOD: Random urine samples collected from 42 FD patients and 48 healthy individuals. Lyso-Gb3 and its analogues were enriched by solid phase extraction and analysed by liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry. RESULTS: The total concentration of Lyso-Gb3 plus its analogues in classical FD male and female patients were 1124.4 ±â€¯181.2 and 308.6 ±â€¯78.6 pmol/mmol creat., respectively. The levels in non-classical FD male and female patients were 229.2 ±â€¯169.4 and 314.4 ±â€¯156.4 pmol/mmol creat., respectively. Urinary Lyso-Gb3 and its analogues were virtually undetectable in healthy volunteers making it 100% specific for FD diagnosis. For FD male and female patients, total concentration of urinary Lyso-Gb3 plus its analogue levels ≥0.25 pmol/mmol creat. yielded a diagnostic sensitivity and specificity of 100% (AUC = 1, p < 0.00001). CONCLUSIONS: Our study findings support that the total concentration of Lyso-Gb3 plus its analogues in urine is specific to FD and may provide extra diagnostic utility for both classical and non-classical FD patients.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Dysregulated production of inflammatory cytokines might play important role in anemia during malaria infection. The objective of this study was to assess the extent of anemia due to malaria, associated complications, and inflammatory cytokines (tumor necrosis factor alpha [TNF-α], interleukin [IL]-6, and IL-10) across varying anemic intensity during malaria infections. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A hospital-based cross-sectional study was conducted at District Wenlock hospital in Mangaluru city. Samples from 627 patients and 168 healthy controls (HC) were analyzed for level of hemoglobin (Hb), red blood cells (RBCs), and inflammatory cytokines. The blood cell parameters and inflammatory cytokines levels across varying intensity of anemia were analyzed using Kruskal-Wallis test and pair-wise comparison between two groups were by Mann-Whitney U-test. Correlations were calculated by Pearson's and Spearman rank correlations. RESULTS: Compared to HC, Hb, and RBC levels were significantly lower in infected patients. On comparison with mild anemia patients (Hb 8-10.9 g/dL), the levels of TNF-α and IL-6 were significantly elevated, whereas IL-10 levels were lower during severe anemia (SA) (Hb <5 g/dL). In this endemic setting, we found a strong negative association between Hb levels and parasitemia, Hb and TNF-α, and positive relationship with IL-10; anemic patients also had significantly high TNF-α/IL-10 ratios. SA was associated with complications such as acute renal failure (16.0%), jaundice (16.0%), metabolic acidosis (24.0%), hypoglycemia (12.0%), hyperparasitemia (4.0%), and hepatic dysfunction (16.0%). CONCLUSIONS: Contrary to its benign reputation, Plasmodium vivax (Pv) infections can also result in severe malarial anemia (SMA) and its associated severe complications similar to Plasmodium falciparum infections. Dysregulated inflammatory cytokine responses play an important role in the pathogenesis of SMA, especially during Pv infections.

ABSTRACT

Predictions have shown that our demand for oil and gas will continue to grow in the next decade, and future supply will become more reliant on tertiary recovery and from nonconventional resources. However, current reservoir characterization methodologies, such as well logs, cross-well electromagnetic imaging and seismic methods, have their individual limitations on detection range and resolution. Here we propose a pioneering way to use carbon quantum dots (CQDs) as nanoparticle tracers, which can be transported through a reservoir functioning as conventional tracers, while acting as sensors to obtain useful information. These hydrothermally produced CQDs from Xylose possess excellent stability in high ionic strength solutions, durable absorbance and fluorescence ability due to multi high-polarity functional group on their surfaces. Consistency between our on-line ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy and off-line Confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) measurements confirms that CQDs have the tracer-like migration capability in glass beads-packed columns and sandstone cores, regardless of particle concentration and ionic strength. However, their migration ability is undermined in the column packed with crushed calcite grains with positive charge. We also demonstrate that quantitative oil saturation detection in unknown sandstone core samples can be achieved by such CQDs based on its breakthrough properties influenced by the presence of oil phase.

BACKGROUND: Eribulin mesylate is a non-taxane microtubule inhibitor which can be used after anthracycline and taxane treatment in patients with metastatic breast cancer (MBC). The purpose of this study was to investigate the efficacy and safety of eribulin monotherapy in heavily pretreated patients with MBC. METHODS: In this study, a total of 45 eligible patients with MBC who received eribulin in HCG Cancer Speciality Center from November 2014 to March 2016 were prospectively analyzed. Breslow (generalized Wilcoxon) survival analysis was carried out for progression-free survival and for overall survival. Patients were excluded if they had not taken treatment for 3 cycles and defaulted/expired during the treatment. RESULTS: In this study, median age of patients was 52 years. A total of 27 (60%) patients had estrogen receptor and progesterone receptor (PR) positive primary tumors, whereas HER2 was overexpressed or amplified in 7 (15.6%); a triple negative subtype was recorded in 13 patients (28.9%). Regarding toxicity, 30 patients (66.67%) tolerated treatment well and 3 patients (6.67%) got anemia, 6 patients (13.3%) experienced neutropenia, and 7 (15.62%) patients had neurological toxicity. About 14 (31.1%) patients showed PR, 12 (26.7%) patients had stable disease (SD), whereas 19 (42.25%) patients showed progression disease (PD). Response evaluation at 6 cycles was possible in 18 patients and revealed that 4 (22.5%) patients showed PR, 10 (55.5%) patients had SD, whereas 4 (22.2%) patients had PD. Progression-free survival of the overall study population was 3.95 months. CONCLUSIONS: Eribulin mesylate is efficacious and tolerable chemotherapy as second- and third-line treatment options for MBC.

ABSTRACT

An orbital defect causes severe facial asymmetry and disfigurement that result in an immense emotional trauma to the patient and is also associated with economic, esthetic, and psychological problems. A prosthetic replacement is the treatment of choice in helping individual to return to his normal life by producing an acceptable and lifelike appearance. This case report describes the critical areas of fabrication of ocular prosthesis for a patient with missing right eye due to trauma to eye ball in an accident. Patient had given a history of surgical enucleation of the eye 15 days after ocular trauma. A polymethyl methacrylate ocular prosthesis was planned. The technique described in this case report presents the use of both custom-made and stock eye shell in an attempt to include the benefits of both. A novel attempt was made to simulate eye movements and exact color matching to that of contralateral eye to provide a better and functional ocular prosthesis to the patient.

INTRODUCTION: The widespread use of cell phone in recent years has raised many questions whether their use is safe to operator who is exposed to Electromagnetic Waves (EMV). AIM: To find out the effect of cell phone emitted radiations on the orofacial structures. MATERIALS AND METHODS: To identify suitable literature, an electronic search was performed using Medline, Pubmed and EBSCO host database in December 2016. The search was focused on effect of cell phone on orofacial structures. Among the literature available in English, the screening of the related titles and abstracts was done, and only those articles were selected for full text reading that fulfilled the inclusion criteria. RESULTS: The initial literature search resulted in 360 articles out of which only 24 articles fulfilled the inclusion criteria and were included in this systematic review. CONCLUSION: Cell phone emitted radiations had their adverse effect on salivary glands and facial nerves. Studies showed that cell phone emitted radiations had effects on oral mucosal cells and causes changes in salivary flow rate. It was still unclear that cell phone radiations cause tumours of the salivary glands.

ABSTRACT

Multipronged approach was used to synthesize a library of diverse C-8 cyclopentyl hypoxanthine analogs from a common intermediate III. Several potent and selective compounds were identified and evaluated for pharmacokinetic (PK) properties in Wistar rats. One of the compounds 14 with acceptable PK parameters was selected for testing in in vivo primary acute diuresis model. The compound demonstrated significant diuretic activity in this model.

ABSTRACT

Temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) is a common type of epilepsy with hippocampus as the usual site of origin. The CA3 subfield of hippocampus is reported to have a low epileptic threshold and hence initiates the disorder in patients with TLE. This study computationally investigates how impaired dendritic inhibition of pyramidal cells in the vulnerable CA3 subfield leads to generation of epileptic activity. A model of CA3 subfield consisting of 800 pyramidal cells, 200 basket cells (BC) and 200 Oriens-Lacunosum Moleculare (O-LM) interneurons was used. The dendritic inhibition provided by O-LM interneurons is reported to be selectively impaired in some TLEs. A step-wise approach is taken to investigate how alterations in network connectivity lead to generation of epileptic patterns. Initially, dendritic inhibition alone was reduced, followed by an increase in the external inputs received at the distal dendrites of pyramidal cells, and finally additional changes were made at the synapses between all neurons in the network. In the first case, when the dendritic inhibition of pyramidal cells alone was reduced, the local field potential activity changed from a theta-modulated gamma pattern to a prominently gamma frequency pattern. In the second case, in addition to this reduction of dendritic inhibition, with a simultaneous large increase in the external excitatory inputs received by pyramidal cells, the basket cells entered a state of depolarization block, causing the network to generate a typical ictal activity pattern. In the third case, when the dendritic inhibition onto the pyramidal cells was reduced and changes were simultaneously made in synaptic connectivity between all neurons in the network, the basket cells were again observed to enter depolarization block. In the third case, impairment of dendritic inhibition required to generate an ictal activity pattern was lesser than the two previous cases. Moreover, the ictal like activity began earlier in the third case. Hence, our study suggests that greater synaptic plasticity occurring in the whole network due to increase in reception of external excitatory inputs (due to impaired dendritic inhibition) makes the network more susceptible to generation of epileptic activity.

ABSTRACT

Surgical resection of lips is a relatively rare procedure. A defective lip may cause the patient to feel socially vulnerable as well as functionally handicapped and the defect will influence the patient's self-esteem and body image. Patients with labial defects also experience speech problems along with drying and crusting of the tissues in the area of defect. The lip and cheek provide a valve mechanism for speech. Rehabilitation of patients with this type of surgery creates numerous challenges for both the surgical and the maxillofacial prosthetic teams. The goals of prosthetic treatment include regaining favorable speech and restoration of esthetics. This case report presents a 65-year-old woman who was referred for restoration of her lost lip. This case paper describes a quick and simple method of positioning magnets with lip prosthesis attached to maxillary denture and thus esthetics and speech of the patient is restored. Use of retention magnets simplify the clinical and laboratory phase retains the denture and makes it stable and comfortable for the patient. The advent of magnets has enhanced the dental practitioner's capabilities with a remarkably improved potential for increasing prosthesis stability and preserving tissue.

Rabies claims about 55,000 human lives and many hundreds of thousands of livestock every year, worldwide. Despite a heavy disease burden, laboratory facilities to diagnose the infection remain scarce in most countries of the developing world where the disease is endemic. Rapid Fluorescent Focus Inhibition Test (RFFIT) and Fluorescent Antibody Virus Neutralization Test (FAVN) are the common tests done in the rabies diagnostic laboratories to detect and quantitate Rabies Virus Neutralizing Antibodies (RVNA). RFFIT is most often employed in confirming seroconversion following prophylactic vaccination, and to aid ante-mortem diagnosis in suspected cases of rabies. Though this remains one of the most sought-after diagnostic services in rabies laboratories, the requirements for expensive anti-rabies fluorochrome antibody conjugate and a fluorescent microscope restrict its performance to only a few reference laboratories. Cost-effective laboratory diagnostic methods employing affordable technology are a need of the hour in the rabies-endemic countries. In this study we have developed a new immunohistochemistry-based neutralization test and extensively evaluated it along with RFFIT. One hundred and 20 human serum samples collected after post-exposure vaccination were subjected to both the tests for determining RVNA titers. The results obtained with the new test correlated significantly with those of RFFIT. Further validation of the inter- and intra- assay precision, lower limit of quantification (LLOQ) and specificity was also performed. The best correlation between the 2 methods, however, was observed only when the RVNA concentrations in the samples were>20 IU/mL. Overall, the immunohistrochemistry-based neutralization test yielded satisfactory results. We suggest that it might serve as a cost-effective alternative to RFFIT in low-resource settings in the developing countries.
