ABSTRACT

It has been almost half a century since the first interest in autonomous robots was shown, and research is still continuing to improve their ability to make perfectly conscious decisions from a user safety point of view. These autonomous robots are now at a fairly advanced level, which means that their adoption rate in social environments is also increasing. This article reviews the current state of development of this technology and highlights the evolution of interest in it. We analyze and discuss specific areas of its use, for example, its functionality and current level of development. Finally, challenges related to the current level of research and new methods that are still being developed for the wider adoption of these autonomous robots are highlighted.

ABSTRACT

In this paper, we present an analysis of important aspects that arise during the development of neural network applications. Our aim is to determine if the choice of library can impact the system's overall performance, either during training or design, and to extract a set of criteria that could be used to highlight the advantages and disadvantages of each library under consideration. To do so, we first extracted the previously mentioned aspects by comparing two of the most popular neural network libraries-PyTorch and TensorFlow-and then we performed an analysis on the obtained results, with the intent of determining if our initial hypothesis was correct. In the end, the results of the analysis are gathered, and an overall picture of what tasks are better suited for what library is presented.

ABSTRACT

Lately, the software development industry is going through a slow but real transformation. Software is increasingly a part of everything, and, software developers, are trying to cope with this exploding demand through more automation. The pipelining technique of continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) has developed considerably due to the overwhelming demand for the deployment and deliverability of new features and applications. As a result, DevOps approaches and Agile principles have been developed, in which developers collaborate closely with infrastructure engineers to guarantee that their applications are deployed quickly and reliably. Thanks to pipeline approach thinking, the efficiency of projects has greatly improved. Agile practices represent the introduction to the system of new features in each sprint delivery. Those practices may contain well-developed features or can contain bugs or failures which impact the delivery. The pipeline approach, depicted in this paper, overcomes the problems of delivery, improving the delivery timeline, the test load steps, and the benchmarking tasks. It decreases system interruption by integrating multiple test steps and adds stability and deliverability to the entire process. It provides standardization which means having an established, time-tested process to use, and can also decrease ambiguity and guesswork, guarantee quality and boost productivity. This tool is developed with an interpreted language, namely Bash, which offers an easier method to integrate it into any platform. Based on the experimental results, we demonstrate the value that this solution currently creates. This solution provides an effective and efficient way to generate, manage, customize, and automate Agile-based CI and CD projects through automated pipelines. The suggested system acts as a starting point for standard CI/CD processes, caches Docker layers for subsequent usage, and implements highly available deliverables in a Kubernetes cluster using Helm. Changing the principles of this solution and expanding it into multiple platforms (windows) will be addressed in a future discussion.

ABSTRACT

Robots can be very different, from humanoids to intelligent self-driving cars or just IoT systems that collect and process local sensors' information. This paper presents a way to increase dependability for information exchange and processing in systems with Cloud-Fog-Edge architectures. In an ideal interconnected world, the recognized and registered robots must be able to communicate with each other if they are close enough, or through the Fog access points without overloading the Cloud. In essence, the presented work addresses the Edge area and how the devices can communicate in a safe and secure environment using cryptographic methods for structured systems. The presented work emphasizes the importance of security in a system's dependability and offers a communication mechanism for several robots without overburdening the Cloud. This solution is ideal to be used where various monitoring and control aspects demand extra degrees of safety. The extra private keys employed by this procedure further enhance algorithm complexity, limiting the probability that the method may be broken by brute force or systemic attacks.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: The prevalence of chronic diseases at children is increasing due to the progress made in medicine, which radically changed the evolution and the prognostics. Disease registers became important tools to register and monitor the chronic patients in order to asses their needs and improve their care. Disease registers are also very important for adjusting to population needs the actions in the public health field. The main objective for this research is to develop a model for a chronic disease register of children in Romania, taking into account the current situation of chronic diseases' registration and reporting, the specific requirements for such medical database and the particularities of the information systems in the Romanian healthcare system. METHODS: Our study was based on interviews with specialists and Health Ministry representatives, field observations, and analysis of published and unpublished data). RESULTS: We developed a platform for a chronic diseases register of children based on open EHR specifications and architecture, which respects the requirements for data security and the particularities of Romania's healthcare system. The model created is functioning on two levels. The first one is local and corresponds to a medical unit, while the second one represents the connection and the communication method within the entire national medical system. In order to achieve the highest level of interoperability at the semantic level, we used, for the communication module of a National Disease Register system, only EN 13606 or HL7 v3 and / or HL7 v3 CDA. CONCLUSIONS: This model is functional and can be applied initially at a clinical level for medical and administrative purposes. Its design allows a future development, integrated with the current informational systems and implemented at regional and national level. This will significantly improve the knowledge that may support good medical practice in this field, will enhance the coherence of data collection and, as a consequence, will impact positevely on the health of children diagnosed with chronic diseases.
