ABSTRACT

The paper presents a system developed for the assistance of diagnosis and treatment in alternative medicine, based on traditional Chinese methods. The system named CompAc, is a result of an interdisciplinary cooperation and is designed for the physician, specialist in acupuncture. The Compac system allows the determination of the type of energetic imbalance starting from the clinical picture of the patient and establishing whether an organ or any of the viscera are affected. It allows also the indication of different variants of treatment. The diagnosis proposed by the system has to be confirmed by the physician and can be modified by him. The system is also useful for medical training.

ABSTRACT

This paper describes the application of the GEHR (Good European Health Record) architecture to develop a system to enable the storage and exchange of EHCRs (Electronic Health Care Record) of patients with diabetes, in the Black Sea area. The objectives of the Black Sea Tele Diab System (BSTD) were to develop and evaluate the use of a fully-computerised healthcare record system in a clinical setting, to promote the use of electronic data exchange of healthcare information and to provide a framework for the epidemiological study and monitoring of diabetes care.

ABSTRACT

Diabetes represents a heterogeneous group of disturbances, which can have a different aetiology, but have in common glucidic, lipidic and proteinic metabolic disturbances. Insulin-dependent diabetes appears in genetically susceptible persons, as an autoimmune disease activated by environment factors. Epidemiological studies performed in different countries, notice the increasing of diabetes cases in the last decades. Therefore the informatic system EtioDiab (from Etiopathological diabetes) has been developed. The purpose of this system is to assist the medical research regarding the environment factors involved in the etiopathogenesis of insulin-dependent diabetes. The system offers the possibility of calculation of many statistic indicators, of graphic representation of the recorded data, of verification of the statistical hypotheses.

ABSTRACT

The authors discuss the use of acupuncture in the treatment of chronic mixed marginal parodontopathies as an eventual means of bioenergetic reequilibration. The various studies carried out for some time by the Department of Odontology and Parodontology of the Bucharest Faculty of Stomatology have demonstrated the lateration of electrical bioresistance in certain acupuncture points in the cephalic extremity at the level of the gingival mucosa in pathologic parodontal states. This suggested the possible applicability in chronic mixed marginal parodontopathies of acupuncture instead of the known means of biostimulation.
