ABSTRACT
Despite the fact that Saccharomyces cerevisiae has suicide tendencies since its product affects cell function, it is a key player in alcoholic fermentation. The presence of ethanol in the medium affects membrane integrity and fluidity, as well as the rate of ethanol production. The Msn2/4p transcription factors are key regulators in stress response and play a critical role in cell response to ethanol challenge. Protein kinase A (tpk1/2/3) is controlling the activation/inactivation of a multitude of proteins through phosphorylation at specific serine residues. Targets of Protein Kinase A (PKA) are also msn2/4 and phosphorylation of these two transcription factors by PKA resulting in obstruction of their translocation to the nucleus. This work attempts to reveal the significance of specific serine residues of Msn2/4p, as possible targets of PKA, through substitution of these serine residues with alanine. © 2018 American Institute of Chemical Engineers Biotechnol. Adalimumab is a human, recombinant IgG1 monoclonal antibody that specifically blocks the interaction of tumour necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha with the p55 and the p75 TNF-alpha cell surface receptors. We report the appearance of palmoplantar pustular psoriasis in a patient after 6 months of successful adalimumab administration for psoriatic arthritis. The development or worsening of psoriatic skin lesions is a known side effect of adalimumab and other TNF-alpha antagonists increasingly reported in the literature. Although it has been reported as a 'class-effect' of TNF-alpha antagonists, we believe that the deterioration or new onset of psoriasis is an adverse reaction seen mainly with drugs used for the treatment of psoriasis and not solely with anti-TNF agents. The latter is probably implying an existing gap in the understanding of the pathophysiology of psoriasis or of the anti-psoriatic drugs' mechanisms of action.

Visceral leishmaniasis typically presents with symptoms such as fever, enlargement of the spleen and the liver, hypergammaglobulinaemia and infection of the bone marrow resulting in anaemia and leukopenia. The disease is sporadic in the countries of the Mediterranean basin. We report an unusual case of acute tonsillitis due to tonsillar leishmaniasis, in an immunocompetent 34-y-old male patient. Diagnosis was confirmed by serological tests and histopathological examination following biopsy of the right tonsil. The patient was successfully treated with liposomal amphotericin-B.
