ABSTRACT

Dependence of the population morbidity on the ground-level ozone concentration in the summer of 2010 was studied in a city with low urbanization (Vyatskie Polyany, Kirov oblast) and in Moscow. At a high air temperature and low ozone concentration, the population morbidity was not associated with these parameters in Vyatskie Polyany. When the average daily ground-level ozone concentration exceeded 60 µg/m3 for 13 successive days, the correlation coefficient between ozone concentration and the number of ambulance calls was statistically significant, r = 0.62. Heavy smoke from forest fires reduced ozone concentration, and the number of emergency calls did not increase. In Moscow, the incidence of respiratory diseases and population mortality were growing up at high ozone concentrations.

ABSTRACT

A mathematical model was found to describe variations in atmospheric carbon oxide during night sleep of chambered test subjects. The analytical expressions make possible calculation of CO concentration in artificial atmosphere. The model was constructed from the factual laboratory test data and can be used in designing of life support systems.

ABSTRACT

Comparative investigation of antioxidant and peroxidase activities of mixtured saliva during testing loads in control group, as well as in patients with caries and combination of caries with inflammatory periodontal diseases was carried out. Antioxidant activity of saliva in the last two groups was significantly lower, so their correction with xidiphone was made.

ABSTRACT

The authors present the results of laser-based 13C-urea breath test (13C-UBT) application in diagnostics of Helicobacter pylori-associated diseases (chronic gastritis, duodenitis, and peptic ulcer). 13C-UBT data distribution before and after eradication therapy, as well as age distribution, were obtained. Correlations between the nosological forms and the rate of contamination were established.

ABSTRACT

Recently specific substances of natural origin, making people feel better and increasing their working ability, are used on a larger scale for breathing. Under the conditions of aerostimulation, better indices of nonspecific immune resistance (phagocytotic activity, cation protein content in granulocytes) and of immunological parameters (T- and B-systems of immunity, lysosomal-cation tests) as compared to the control have been observed. The influence of the preparation of the forest aerostimulator lead to the stimulation of the indices of the immune status.

ABSTRACT

No exhaustive hygienic studies have been conducted yet of the natural substances present in the atmosphere. A complex of natural substances was shown to affect EEG parameters, subjective perception of one's health and general perception. The concentration of the vapours of a mixture of substances was kept at 0.1 mg/m3 which is characteristic of mountainous air. The inhalation of the natural substances was shown to alter the EEG indicators and subjective perception of tested subjects, suggesting a stimulatory effect on the central nervous system. The natural substances proved to stimulate the efficiency of mental and manual work, self-perception and mood. These effects can be accounted for by the positive biological influence of the mountainous atmosphere.
