ABSTRACT

Content of amino acids in the blood serum using ion-exchange chromatography and a quantitative crystalloscopic "closed drop" method was measured in 105 patients with multiple sclerosis of different severity. The relation between the dynamics of content of glutamic, asparagine acids and glycine and the disease severity was determined. The highest level of glutamic acid was found in the patients with severe disease course. The dynamics of quantitative changes in the amino acid content was accompanied by the disturbance of blood serum structuration and appearance of selective micromorphotypes. The positive correlation between the severity of motor and coordination disorders and the increase in levels of glutamic acid and glycine in the severe cases was detected.

ABSTRACT

Thirteen antibiotics of red, rose, yellow and violet color, which are synthesized by the soil Streptomycetes on the complete corn-bean medium have been isolated and purified by means of thin layer chromatography. Antibiotic activity of the obtained compounds has been determined against a series of gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, and also yeasts. The maxima of absorption of antibiotics in visible and UV-light were established. The preliminary results are obtained about the presence of sugar component in the structure of molecules, as well as the indicator properties of the red-color antibiotics. The assumption was proposed about the affinity of some antibiotics for anthracyclines and ansamycines.

ABSTRACT

Glucoamylase from Aspergillus awamori 466 was immobilized on various supports. The enzyme sorption depends on its amount, the type of support, and immobilization conditions. The kinetics of acidic inactivation of the native and immobilized enzyme was studied. The immobilized enzyme was more resistant to temperature and pH. The mechanism of the enzyme binding to the support was investigated by IR spectroscopy.

ABSTRACT

Investigation of the blood sera of patients with fresh syphilis forms before, immediately after, and in 6-18 months after treatment has confirmed a high sensitivity of the serologic tests for syphilis used in this country. The results of dynamic serologic monitoring of patients have demonstrated high efficacy of the therapeutic method used.

ABSTRACT

A clinical and serologic follow-up of 307 BALB/c mice and 12 rabbits injected with the blood and brain and spinal tissue of mice infected with 5 strains of T. pallidum has demonstrated the possibility of a prolonged (up to 465 days) preservation of pathogenic T. pallidum strains in these mice, as well as the regularity of a syphilitic infection development in rabbits. This permits recommending T. pallidum pathogenic strains to be maintained in mice at laboratories of institutions for skin and sexually transmitted diseases where experimental and diagnostic studies with the use of specific serologic tests for syphilis are carried out.

ABSTRACT

The results of rapid single-course oletetrine and tetracycline therapy of early syphilis are analyzed. The time of Treponema pallidum disappearance from syphilid discharge, of syphilid regression, and of the first negative results of the routine serologic tests, immunofluorescence 200/ABC and T. pallidum immobilization tests, as well as the blood serum tetracycline level indicate a high therapeutic efficacy of this method and recommend it for wide use.
