ABSTRACT

Exploratory and therapeutical punctures were made in 454 patients under the control of ultrasound, CT, and X-ray teleimage. Diagnostic biopsies established the cytological and histological nature of diseases in 67.6% of cases, positive ultrasound-, CT-, and X-ray teleimage-controlled biopsies being 76.3, 64.9, and 71.4%, respectively. Beneficial effects of therapeutical interventions were obtained in 89.5% of patients.

ABSTRACT

Morphometric studies using the Integral instrumentation complex and the ICP--II pulsed cytophotometer assays of DNA in lung tumor cells of various histological patterns were conducted to obviate difficulties involved in establishing differential cytologic diagnosis of small cell undifferentiated lung cancer. It was shown that morphometric and pulsed cytophotometric measurements may offer considerable advantage when used in conjunction with other procedures of differential diagnosis with a view to improving diagnosis of various forms of lung tumors and small cell undifferentiated lung cancer, in particular.

ABSTRACT

A complex examination of the endometrium by cytomorphological methods, including impulse cytophotometry, radiometric monitoring and blood plasma-estradiol measurements was carried out in patients aged 41-54, to ascertain the local effect of cryosurgery performed for recurrent endometrial hyperplasia. The study was conducted in perimenopausal patients before and 4 months after cryosurgery. The results confirmed the high local effect of the treatment and showed DNA-histograms of the endometrium to provide a means of objective monitoring of treatment effectiveness.
