ABSTRACT

Intravenous glucose tolerance test(IVGTT)and oral glucose-insulin releasing test(OGIRT) in 12 subjects with normal glucose tolerance were performed. The results showed that the peak of insulin secretion Was at 40 minutes during()GIRT.The ratio of the change of insulin-to-glucose at 40 minutes(△I40/△G40)is an index in reflecting insulin sensitivity and β-cell function.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the changes of platelet-derived growth factor(PDGF) and vascular endo-thelial growth factor(VEGF) in infectious and autoimmunity diseaases. Methods The growth factors were measured by ELISA in 149 patients for seven times in different periods, and the levels and duration were compared. Results PDGF was (6.32±2.54) μg/ml and (2.57±1.65) μg/ml (P<0.05), and VEGF was (179.5±53.30) ng/ml and (221.4±70.04) ng/ml(P<0.05) in the two groups before treatment; There was statistical significance in dif-ferent time points between groups and within groups for PDGF(P<0.05) and significant difference for time chan-ging to the peak and changed duration between two groups for VEGF(P<0.05). For the two groups, the peak time of PDGF were (2.6±1.1) and (5.4±3.3) days; The peak time of VEGF were (2.4±0.7) and (7.2±3.3) days respectively(P<0.05 for each). However in the two groups, the change duration were (6.7±3.1) and (15.4±6.1) days for PDGF and (8.1±3.4) and (16.7±7.2) days for VEGF (P<0.05 for each). Conclu-sions There is significant difference for serum levels of PDGF and VEGF and the level change duration as well in the two groups, which maybe correlated with inflammatory nature and outcome.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate arsenic trioxide (As2O3)-mediated apoptosis of synovlal cells in pa-tients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) through culturing the synoviocytes in vitro. Methods Primary synovial cells were cultured by means of two-enzymatic digestion and the third cells were adopted in this test. The cultured cells were defined by MTT and flow cytometry (FCM). Results Certain concentration of As2O3 could inhibit the viability of synoviocytes at 48 h by means of MTT, which was dose-dependent. Certain concentration of As2O3 could induce the apoptosis of synoviocytos pro rata at 48h by means of FCM ,which was dose-dependent within range of 10-80 μmol/L concentration. Conclusion Certain concentration of As2O3 following 48 h effect could induce the apoptosis of syno-viocytes of RA,which is dose-dependent.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the correlation of ankle-brachial index(ABI),pulsatility index(PI),resistent index(RI)and vibration perception thresholds(VPT)in type 2 diabetic patients(T2DM).Methods A total of 664 type 2 diabetic patients with 1 328 legs(362 men and 302 women)were divided into three groups based on the ABI test: group A(ABI
