ABSTRACT
OBJETIVOS: Apresentar e discutir um caso de cisto dermoide, uma incomum má-formação cística de desenvolvimento. DISCUSSÃO E CONCLUSÃO: Este cisto ocorre comumente na linha média do assoalho da boca ou na área submentoniana. A prevalência é muito baixa em cabeça e pescoço (2% de todos os cistos dermoides). A excisão cirúrgica é o tratamento de escolha. Discutem-se aspectos relativos ao diagnóstico, ao tratamento estabelecido e ao acompanhamento do paciente.
OBJECTIVES: To present and discuss a case of dermoid cyst, an uncommon developmental cyst malformation. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: The incidence of this cyst in the head and neck regions is low, occurring in only about 2 % of all dermoid cysts. The diagnosis is established through clinical and histopathologic exams, and its treatment is surgical excision as early as possible. The authors report here the case of a patient who developed a dermoid cyst and emphasize the clinical exam, treatment and follow up features of this case.
