ABSTRACT

The aim of this study was to synthesize new precursors, combinations of well-known antioxidant molecules: resveratrol, lipoic acid and vitamin E to improve their photo-stability and to modulate their lipophylic character. Active antioxidants are available through a controlled release by the action of skin enzymes upon a topic application. Two conjugates are described, the combinations of resveratrol-lipoic acid (6) and resveratrol-vitamin E (10). Both compounds are new molecules. This work describes their synthesis, characterization, stability study and in vitro biohydrolysis. Stratum corneum enzymes efficiently hydrolysed in vitro precursor 6 and liberate both active molecules, resveratrol and lipoic acid over the period of 72 h. Precursor 10 was hydrolysed in vitro by combination of Stratum corneum enzymes and the cholesterol esterase. A simple technique of preparation of the human Stratum corneum hydrolases is also described.

ABSTRACT

A case of asymptomatic 36 years old men with Ebstein anomaly of tricuspid valve, patent foramen ovale and paroxismal supraventricular tachycardia is presented in this paper. A routine physical examination revealed a heart systolic murmur along left and right side of sternum, with right bundle branch block on ECG. It led to the detailed non-invasive cardiologic examination (transthoracic, transeophageal and stress echocardiography, ambulatory ECG), what disclosed above mentioned Ebstein anomaly. Also he was operated on upon superior lip fissure at the first year of life. Regarding his very mild symptoms (NYHA g. 1), he was treated only medicamentosly.

ABSTRACT

A case of two: 21 years and 39 years old male patients with congenital heart disease: Single Ventricle with pulmonary valve stenosis and L-malposition of the great vessels. In the first case the diagnosis of congenital pulmonic stenosis & tricuspid regurgitation was established after birth and during the previous period. In the second case the diagnosis of VSD was established during the recruiting checkup, when he was 18 years old. Detailed non-invasive cardiologic examination was performed (transthoracic & transoesophageal echocardiography) and the diagnosis of Single Ventricle with pulmonary valve stenosis & L-malposition of the great vessels: Double-Inlet Left Ventricle with severe symptoms (21 years old & supraventricular paroxysmal tachycardia) with middle symptoms (39 years old) were established in both cases.

ABSTRACT

The paper is a case report of a 34 year old man with an inferior wall myocardial infarction, episodes of ventricular tachycardia, normal coronary arteries and a large atrial septal defect. Coronary atherosclerosis causes 95% of all myocardial infarcts and 75% in the age group under 35 years. Other possible causes are coronary arteritis, trauma, valuvlopathy, systemic diseases, infective and non-infective endocarditis, polycithemia, thrombocytosis, cocaine abuse. These can be usually excluded by history, physical or laboratory examination. The existence of a large atrial septal defect with dominantly left to right shunting, but occasional right to left shunting, is an indication and a justification for surgical treatment aiming to prevent recurrence by closure of the atrial septal defect. Paradoxical emboli have been recognised in the recent literature as an important cause of cerebral infarction, more rarely of emboli to other locations. The etiology remains difficult to confirm with certitude except when an embolus is seen by echocardiography in transit through a patent foramen ovale. We have also reviewed previously published cases of paradoxical emboli in literature.
