ABSTRACT

The effect of TBG on the functional activity of different cell lines, spontaneous and Con A induced proliferation of PBL was studied. If concentration of TBG is higher than 50 mu kg/ml it suppresses the proliferation in many used cell lines, except choriocarcinoma and cancer of uterus. The reliable increasing of spontaneous proliferation of PBL, Jurkat and K-562 cells may be observed if concentration is more lower (0.5-15 mu kg/ml). However proliferation of other cell lines corresponds to control level, and Con A induced proliferation of PBL is inhibited. The effect was more marked at 48, as compared to 24 hours of cell incubation with TBG.

ABSTRACT

While analyzing M-HeLa cells by IFA technique secretory and membrane-bound forms of human placental alkaline phosphatase (HPAP) were detected. Activity of secretory HPAP increased if cell density and incubation time were increased too. After short influence of heat shock (15 min at 42 degrees C) activity of secretory HPAP increased for 45% and intracellular HPAP 3 for 37%. It is proposed that HPAP take part in organization of first response to heat shock and support cellular thermotolerance.

ABSTRACT

Supernatant of activated cells of human T-leucosis line "Jurkat" enriched with interleukin-2 (IL-2) was injected to Balb/c mice. After a number of injections the animals were sacrificed and the thymus cells were cultured in vitro. Transformed cell clones were formed on days 3-4. Two stable T-cell strains of the reproduced primary cells were obtained (TC.SC-1/1.1. and TC.SC-1/2.0). The strains corresponded to the transitional stage of pre-T-lymphocytes and consisted of tumour cells. A possible mechanism of malignant transformation of these cells is discussed.

ABSTRACT

The surface activity and enzymic properties of the factor F1, the catalytic moiety of Streptococcus faecalis H+-ATPase, has been studied at the air-water and phospholipid-water interfaces. F1 does not interact with the monolayer phospholipids, hence its adsorption on a biological membrane must be due mainly to its recognition of proteins of the hydrophobic complex. The dimensions of the F1 molecule at the air-water interface have been estimated. In the presence of Mg2+, base area is S = 1.8 . 10(4) A2, height h = 27 A. Bearing in mind the size of a globular subunit, it follows from the measurements that the major F1 subunits should all lie in the same plane. The ATPase activity of F1 at the interface is inversely proportional to the monolayer density. With low density monolayer, the specific ATPase activity is higher at the interface than in the bulk of the solution. Adsorption of F1 at the interface shifts the isoelectric point of tiscussed relative to the proton-active transport mechanism.
