ABSTRACT

The investigation of soil total nitrogen (STN) holds significant importance in the preservation and sustainability of Earth's ecosystems. The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (QTP), renowned as the world's most expansive plateau and characterized by its exceptionally delicate ecosystem, demands an in-depth exploration of its STN content. In this study, we use a machine learning approach to extrapolate point-scale measured STN stocks to the entire QTP and calculated STN storage from 0 to 2 m. Our results show that the XGB algorithm performs well in modeling STN despite variations in simulation accuracy for specific depth ranges. The spatial distribution of STN across the QTP exhibits pronounced heterogeneity, especially for the 0-50 cm soil layer, with relatively higher STN stocks in the southeast and lower stocks in the northwest of QTP. The vertical distribution reveals a gradual decrease in STN storage with increasing depth. The 0-50 cm soil layer holds the highest STN stocks, averaging around 0.78 kg/m2, which is almost the sum of STN stocks in the 50-100 cm and 100-200 cm soil layers. Meanwhile, the STN stocks are smaller in permafrost zone than that in non-permafrost zone. We also investigate the impact factors that control the spatiotemporal distribution of STN. It indicates that vegetation, precipitation, temperature, and elevation are the major factors for STN distribution, while physical properties of the soil have a relatively smaller impact. These findings are crucial for understanding the distribution and evolution of STN on the QTP.

ABSTRACT

Dendrobium(Orchidaceae) is traditional Chinese medicine with a high healthcare value, which can nourish Yin and tonify deficiency. Eighty-nine flavonoids were isolated from Dendrobium, mainly including flavones, flavanoes and flavonols. Among them, there were 40 flavonoids, the main aglycones were apigenin and chrysoeriol;20 flavanones;and 15 flavonols, and the main aglycones were kaempferol and quercetin. D. officinale and several other species also have flavanonols, anthocyanidins, chalcone and isoflavones. There were 34 species of Dendrobium containing flavonoids, including 38 flavonoids in D. officinale,28 flavonoids in D. huoshanense,19 flavonoids in D. devonianum,12 flavonoids in D. wardianum,5 flavonoids in D. thyrsiflorum,4 flavonoids in D. denneanum and D. findlayanum. Common flavonoids included naringenin, quercetin, rutin, which had pharmacological effects of resisting oxidation, lowering blood sugar, improving blood circulation, lowing cholesterol, and protecting the cardiovascular system. The existing studies of Dendrobium-related species, flavonoids and their physiological functions were reviewed in the expectation to promote the attention of the industry to Dendrobium flavonoids and explore values of Dendrobium plants in efficacy and food fields.

ABSTRACT

Malignant tumors, whose occurrence and development are related to a variety of RNA transporter proteins, seriously affect human health and quality of life. Under normal circumstances, RNA transport proteins help RNA shuttle between nucleus and cytoplasm and their precise localization, effectively coupling the life activities in the nucleus and cytoplasm. During the process of tumorigenesis and progression, the expression and localization of some RNA transporters are abnormal or dysfunctional, which can change the subcellular localization, expression level, transport efficiency of downstream key RNA molecules, and the decay rate of cytoplasmic mRNA, and affect the proliferation, invasion and metastasis of tumors. This paper mainly reviews RNA transport proteins and their expression changes and regulation in tumors.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To compare the therapeutic effect between distal acupoints along meridian plus exercising combined with penetration needling on meridians of back and simple penetration needling on meridians of back for mild to moderate lumbodorsal fascitis.@*METHODS@#A total of 60 patients with mild to moderate lumbodorsal fascitis were randomized into an observation group and a control group, 30 cases in each one. In the control group, penetration needling on meridians of back was applied at acupoints of the Governor vessel (TL) and the first line of bladder meridian, penetration needling was performed from the top down along the governor vessel and the first line of bladder meridian of the lumbar back pain (from one acupoint down to another acupoint), until there was no pain. In the observation group, distal acupoints along meridian plus exercising were adopted on the base of treatment in the control group. The distal acupoints along meridian plus exercising was applied at Cuanzhu (BL 2) for 30 min, at the same time, lumbar back anteflexion, hypsokinesis and turning sides were used in combination for 10 min. And then penetration needling on meridians of back was performed. The treatments were given once a day, 5 consecutive treatments a week, 1 week as a course and 2 courses were required. The visual analogue scale (VAS) score and Oswestry disability index (ODI) before treatment, after treatment and 1month in followup were observed in the two groups, and the clinical effects were compared.@*RESULTS@#Compared before treatment, the VAS score and ODI were reduced after treatment in the two groups (<0.01). The changes of the VAS score and ODI in the observation group were larger than those in the control group (<0.01, <0.05). In follow-up, the VAS score and ODI in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (<0.05). The total effective rate in the observation group was 90.0% (27/30), which was superior to 83.3% (25/30) in the control group (<0.05).@*CONCLUSION@#Distal acupoints along meridian plus exercising combined with penetration needling on meridians of back have a better therapeutic effect than simple penetration needling on meridians of back in the treatment of mild to moderate lumbodorsal fascitis.
