ABSTRACT

AIM: To assess the effect of curcumin in hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus (PVN) and mean arterial pressure so as to explore the central mechanism of hypertension. METHODS: Sixty Sprague-Dawley rats which body weights between 170 and 190 grams fed with a normal salt (0.3% NaCl) or a high salt (8% NaCl) diet for 6 weeks. Meanwhile half of each team received curcumin administration or vehicle by intragastric administration. Mean Arterial pressure was measured noninvasively via tail-cuff instrument and their recording system. The PVN tissue samPles were collected and stored at −80 °C for later analyses. We performed the following experimental procedures: Western blot analysis, immunofluorescence, immunofluorescence and statistical analysis. RESULTS:The average arterial blood Pressure of rats in the high-salt diet group was significantly reduced after 6 weeks of curcumin intervention. The levels of NOX2, NOX4, TLR4, MyD88, IL-6, IL-1β, MCP-1 and ROS in the long-term high-salt diet grouP were significantly higher after curcumin intervention. CONCLUSION:Curcumin can improve blood pressure in hypertensive rats induced by long-term high salt, the mechanism may be related to the imProvement of oxidative stress and inflammatory cytokines in the paraventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus.

ABSTRACT

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is known as the most common malignancy of the hepatobiliary system with a continued increase in incidence but limited therapeutic options. Nanomedicine has provided a promising strategy through engineered nanocarriers that are capable of targeting therapeutic agents specifically to tumor cells. In this research, two aptamer/peptide-modified lipid-based drug delivery systems (A54-PEG-SLN/OXA and A15-PEG-SLN/SAL) were developed as a sequential therapeutic strategy to conquer specific hepatocellular carcinoma. The nanomedicine A54-PEG-SLN/OXA was able to target specific hepatocellular carcinoma cell BEL-7402 and exhibited a strong targeting ability and antitumor efficiency both in vitro and in vivo. The A15-PEG-SLN/SAL could target and penetrate deeply to the spheroid composed of CD133+ cancer cells. In the study of developing a sequential therapeutic strategy, we demonstrated that A54-PEG-SLN/OXA could kill tumor cells and expose CD133+ cancer cells. After the administration of A15-PEG-SLN/SAL, the growth of the tumors was significantly inhibited. In conclusion, the aptamer/peptide-modified lipid-based drug delivery systems, A54-PEG-SLN/OXA and A15-PEG-SLN/SAL, could specifically target carcinoma cells and had an evident antitumor effect when administrated sequentially.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To extract the common factors for evaluating the teaching effect of the integrated curriculum of basic medicine in China, and to analyze and explain the practical significance of these common factors. Methods:A questionnaire survey was conducted among undergraduates of 15 medical colleges in China to evaluate the teaching effect of integrated curriculum of basic medicine, and exploratory factor analysis was conducted for screening and classification. SPSS 22.0 was used to conduct factor analysis. Results:The four major common factors evaluating the teaching effect of integrated curriculum were the effectiveness of teaching process, the rationality of teaching organization, the education of teaching content, and the innovation of teaching methods. Conclusion:The integrated curriculum reform of basic medicine should pay great attention to the simultaneous development of basic theory learning and practical ability training, the effective connection between theoretical teaching and experimental teaching, the educational role in comprehensive quality cultivation of students, and the flexible application of various teaching means and methods.

ABSTRACT

Pitch deposits have negative effects on product quality, machine performance and production line profitability during pulp and paper manufacture. As traditional pitch control technology cannot provide satisfactory solutions in the pitch deposits, the enzymatic treatment has been rapidly developed for its high efficiency and pollution-free property. In this review, the chemical composition and present form of the pitch in pulp is first introduced, followed by a description of the pitch control enzymes. The emphasis is on the current research on enzymatic solutions to pitch problems, including the reaction mechanism, technology, and the present main problems of lipase, sterol esterases, laccase and lipoxygenase. Finally, the technology prospects in this field are proposed.

ABSTRACT

Throughin-depth study and thinking ofthe current situation of medical education, this paper exploredtraining strategies of applied talents in medical colleges under the new situation. From the training ofapplication talents in medical colleges under new situation,we should focus on the current reality, learn experience.Combined with the characteristics of medical specialty,we should explore the model of strengthening the humanistic quality moral training of current medical application talents from the curriculum, teaching content selection, teachers' construction, environment shaping, teaching methods, assessment and evaluation, and thus to adapt to the medical mode conversion, alleviate the doctor-patient contradiction and promote medical students employments.

ABSTRACT

By discussing the importance of emotional education, the paper points out the existing problems of emotional education in nursing teaching as followings:the lack of teachers′emotional education awareness, the im-balance of cognitive development of nursing students and the lack of professional ideological education. Aiming at the above problems, this paper puts forward these specific countermeasures: strengthening the teachers′ emotional accomplishment so as to enhance their emotional education awareness and building a relaxed and pleasant diversi-fied educational environment so as to strengthen the professional thinking.
