ABSTRACT

A new method based on the use of elastic magnetic elements has been developed for reconstructive surgery on the abdominal aorta and its branches. In 135 experimental operations and subsequent clinical trial of 40 operations, an oriented 5 and 10 mT elastic magnetic element was implanted to the centre of the reconstruction site, resulting in a considerable reduction of the rate of thrombosis in the reconstructed arterial segments.

ABSTRACT

The experience in the treatment of 107 patients with iatrogenic traumatism of vessels shows that damage to the main veins may be regarded as the most serious lesion. Operations on the vessels carried out in the first hours after the damage permit one to limit the volume of surgery and to prevent a number of complications. Exception is made for children under 3 when post-catheterization arterial thromboses caused by traumas of a considerable part of the intima require removal.

ABSTRACT

In unfavourable outcomes of direct operations on the aorta, the main importance is attached to thrombosis of the reconstructed segment and the subsequent development of their specific complications. Measures for thrombosis prevention, the use of hyperbaric oxygenation, and appraisal of coronary circulation on the basis of the results of bicycle ergometry play a significant role in providing safety of the operation.
