ABSTRACT
Introducción: el láser de baja potencia se utiliza ampliamente en la práctica médica actual. Numerosas afecciones agudas y crónicas son tratadas con esta terapia, con resultados alentadores y muchas veces superiores a los obtenidos con tratamientos convencionales.Objetivo: presentar el caso de un paciente con herida quirúrgica tratada con láser de baja potencia de arseniuro de galio y aluminio, de interés por los buenos resultados obtenidos como opción terapéutica.Presentación del caso: paciente masculino de 52 años de edad. Fue intervenido quirúrgicamente de un quiste sebáceo localizado en la espalda. Con anteriorioridad recibió tratamiento antibiótico debido al absceso. La herida se dejó abierta para permitir su cierre por segunda intención. El paciente solicitó tratamiento coadyuvante para la cicatrización de la herida y mejoramiento de sus condiciones estéticas. Se le indicaron 15 sesiones de laserterapia, de las que recibió 12.Discusión: el pronóstico de la cicatrización de la herida es de importancia tanto para el paciente como para el cirujano. La cicatrización por segunda intención ocurre cuando hay pérdida de sustancia en la contigüidad del tejido (lo que dificulta enfrentar los bordes de una herida) o cuando existe compromiso infeccioso en la lesión. La aplicación del láser durante el curso del proceso cicatricial además de mejorar el aspecto final del tejido, previene las complicaciones propias de la cicatrización.Conclusiones: por sus buenos resultados, el empleo del láser de baja potencia de arseniuro de galio y aluminio es una opción terapéutica para lograr la cicatrización por segunda intención de las heridas quirúrgicas(AU)
Introduction: the low power laser is widely used in current medical practice. Numerous acute and chronic conditions are treated with this therapy, with encouraging results and many times higher than those obtained with conventional treatments.Objective: to present the case of a patient with a surgical wound treated with a low power laser of gallium arsenide and aluminum, of interest for the good results obtained as a therapeutic option.Case presentation: male patient of 52 years of age. He underwent surgery for a sebaceous cyst located on his back. Previously, he received antibiotic treatment due to abscess. The wound was left open to allow closure by second intention. The patient requested coadjuvant treatment for wound healing and improvement of his aesthetic conditions. He was given 15 sessions of laser therapy, of which he received 12.Discussion: the prognosis of wound healing is important for both the patient and the surgeon. Healing by second intention occurs when there is loss of substance in the contiguity of the tissue (which makes it difficult to face the edges of a wound) or when there is an infectious commitment in the lesion. The application of the laser during the course of the healing process in addition to improving the final appearance of the tissue, prevents the complications of healing.Conclusions: due to its good results, the use of the low power laser of gallium and aluminum arsenide is a therapeutic option to achieve healing by secondary intention of surgical wounds(AU)
