ABSTRACT

Ultrasound examination of the hepatobiliary system was carried out in 102 children (3-12 years) with viral hepatitis A and B on the 57-75 days of the disease. Increased liver size and swelling of the parenchyma was revealed in 100% of patients. Thickening of the gallbladder walls was similarly frequent in A and B hepatitis. In 40% deformation of the gallbladder was revealed in 40.1%. The pancreas was increased in 13.6%, indurated in 36.4% of patients. Changes in the gallbladder and cholangitis are clearly related to the level of bilirubinemia ALT activity that is one of the causes of delayed convalescence.

ABSTRACT

With the purpose of improving early clinico-biochemical diagnosis of viral chronic active hepatitis and liver cirrhosis in children, the authors used indices of connective tissue metabolism--determination of free oxiprolin and neutral lipids in the blood serum. High levels of free oxiprolin and neutral lipids were revealed in patients with chronic active hepatitis and low--in liver cirrhosis. These data characterize different reactions of the connective tissue in the named diseases determined by different morphological maturity grades and secretory activity of fibroblasts.

ABSTRACT

The authors studied the efficiency of using rectally interferon in acute intestinal infections, the influence of the agent on the kinin system in these patients. 42 children with bacterial intestinal infections were examined. They were given rectally 1000 IU of interferon. This results in a rapid disappearance of the intoxication symptoms, signs of lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, normalization of the kinin system indices.
