[Computer software and hardware requirements for the differential diagnosis of periodontal diseases using discriminant analysis]. / Programmno-apparatnoe obespechenie differentsial'noi diagnostiki zabolevanii parodonta s primeneniem diskriminantnogo analiza.

A method of differential diagnosis of parodontium diseases has been devised with the aid of a functional diagnostic system using multichannel rheo- and photoplethysmographs and the deciding rule of discriminant function computation in accordance with an algorithm elaborated. As many as 200 patients have undergone diagnostic examination with the aid of the above-indicated software and hardware system to demonstrate a high probability (92%) of diagnosis.

Basing on rheo- and photoplethysmography combined with mathematical methods and computers the authors have developed a method for the differential diagnosis of periodontal diseases (gingivitis, periodontitis). Diagnostic studies carried out in 200 patients have shown a high probability (at least 92 percent) of the method for the differential diagnosis of periodontal diseases.

In 120 patients the periodontal photoplethysmography was performed. Statistical analysis of the frequency-amplitude characteristics of the photoplethysmographic signal was useful for differential diagnosis of various forms and stages in periodontal diseases and for evaluation of the treatment efficiency.

[Rheographic and photoplethysmographic research on the periodontium in adults with an orthognathic bite, healthy periodontium and an intact dental arch]. / Reograficheskie i fotopletizmograficheskie issledovaniia parodonta u vzroslykh s ortognaticheskim prikusom, zdorovym parodontom i intaktnym zubnym riadom.

The periodontal hemodynamics was investigated in 27 individuals aged 18 to 23. Qualitative evaluation of the curves recorded from marginal gingival sites revealed the identity of the data to those obtained using rheographic and photoplethysmographic techniques. Quantitative parameters of photoplethysmography were somewhat different from rheographic ones, though their course was similar. Pronounced reduction of variability characteristics in the plethysmography substantially increased the informative value of the technique.
