ABSTRACT

Clear cell tumors in the maxillofacial region, are usually originated in salivary or odontogenic tissues, or may be metastatic. They include calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumors, ameloblastoma and odontogenic carcinoma. Clear cell odontogenic tumor has been classified in the last WHO classification as a benign tumor, but current opinion is that it should be designated as a carcinoma. We report a case of clear cell odontogenic tumor documented by histology, in a 82 year-old female, misinterpreted as pleomorphic adenoma by fine-needle aspiration cytology.

ABSTRACT

We have discussed the technique of prophilaxis of dental diseases in patients subjected to radiotherapy of the cervical-facial region by means of gel fluorinated carring cradles. We have also discussed the results obtained from 140 patients, 102 of whom were treated for over 2 years.

ABSTRACT

The authors review the studies describing dental changes after radiotherapy or curietherapy of the cervicofacial region published over the last 50 years. They discuss more particularly: --direct and indirect effects on the teeth,--lesions of the salivary glands,--dental lesions,--fluoride prophylaxis for dental lesions after irradiation.

ABSTRACT

Before antitumoral facial irradiation, those teeth that cannot be conserved for a sufficiently long post-irradiation period of at least two years should be extracted. Teeth that are less affected, in patients given palliative treatment and in whom the prognosis is better, can be conserved. The conserved teeth are protected from destruction by the application of a fluoride gel. Dental reconstruction is ensured by the conventional methods, including the fixed prosthesis. The arches can be restored with atraumatic fixed prostheses but prudence is required. If extraction is necessary, a strict procedure must be employed and sufficient antibiotic treatment prescribed.

ABSTRACT

This report presents our observations in 81 cases; and we have used indirect lymphography only, we injected the contrast medium, lipiodole ultra fluide, intramuscularly to both sides of the tongue. The injection sites are first anaesthetized. The amount of contrast medium should not exceed 5 cc. It is injected in about 10 mn. The first radiological examination is performed 4, 8 and 12 hours after the injection. X-rays are taken using the occipitomental and also lower intraoral occlusal views. The following radiological studies are made after 24 and 48 hours. If necessary further x-rays can be taken as well.

ABSTRACT

Three surgical methods are proposed by the authors for the treatment of an oralantral bistula (1. Wassmund-Rehrmann-Schüchardt--2. Kazanjian-Schüchardt--3. J. M .Vaillant). This is an experience drawn by 450 cases treated in the Ceinic of Oral Surgery of the University of Salonica (Greece), during the last three years. Fistulas, immediately appeared after extraction of an upper caspid of premolare, surgical removal of teeth, or apex, intrasinusaly located, long persistance of a fistula because of a kyste or tumor in the upper jaw have been the subjects of the present paper.

ABSTRACT

A classification, according to the Lancefield's method, of the streptocoques isolated in the blood, after teeth extractions, as well as a determination of their sensibility to the antibiotics, are attempted in this study. It concerns to 23 adults, well supported, to whom multiple extractions, under general anesthesia have been done. We studied both biochemical and serological reactions, and a test for the antibiotic resistance is realised. We insiste in the contrindiction of streptomycine and sulfanilamides in the treatment or the prevention of bacteremia of dental origine.

ABSTRACT

An analysis of delayed action cell immunology tests involved 300 patients suffering from stomatological cancers. The tests used, tuberculine, candidine, varidase and DNCB have no particular value as far as discovering the size of the tumour, the quality of eradicating treatment or its progress. On the other hand, bias in the same direction and, even more, variations in the direction of immunity in the course of evolution seem to be a reflection of the patient's immune defence potential. This immune defence potential which can be roughly assessed in this way dose not seem to be reduced by chemotherapy or increased by immunotherapy, at least judging by the criteria used.
