ABSTRACT

A correlation of the oxygen uptake and transport with photoplethysmography was studied in groups of persons with varying sympathetic tone. For this, noninvasive oximetry and photoplethysmography were applied. The findings indicated that the efficiency of oxygen transport in persons with marked sympathetic tone depended on the systolic constituent of a cardiac cycle and on the tone of precapillary vessels. The results suggests that the sympathetic nervous systems plays an important role in the coupling of microcirculatory processes at different hierarchic levels.

ABSTRACT

Rheovasographic parameters of lower-limb regional blood flow, and lipid metabolism were assessed in 35 trental-treated patients with lower-limb arterial atherosclerosis and in 40 normal subjects. Blood volume increased, and vascular tonicity and elasticity improved in the affected limbs following treatment. Activated transcapillary metabolism is reflected in increased capillary permeability and lymph microflow rate, accompanied with a transition of plasma cholesterol ethers from liquid crystalline to isotropic state.

ABSTRACT

Lipid parameters and temperatures of serum cholesterol; ethers phasic transition were investigated in 35 patients with atherosclerosis of lower-limb vessels, 93 patients with atherosclerosis of coronary arteries and 40 normal subjects. The correlation between transition temperatures and the fatty-acid spectrum of cholesterol ether fraction was examined. Temperatures of cholesterol ethers phasic transition are suggested as diagnostic criteria to supplement conventional biochemical tests.
